Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Dad of 3 children (1 graduated from college, one in college, one entering last year of High School). I'm an Engineer and have worked in Nuclear Energy, Fossil Energy, Renewable Energy, submarines, aircraft carriers, destroyers and even Frigates. I enjoy Scouting, technology, and family vacations. I've traveled a great deal to various countries around the world and enjoy diversity. I'm also a retired US Navy Commander who enjoy telling stories of my adventures to the Primary and Youth.

Why I am a Mormon

Many years ago, I met a pretty girl that had very strong moral values and a balanced family focused life. I visited the family often and experienced the love and commitment they had for the Gospel as detailed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I started attending the Youth Seminary classes to better understand the basics of the Gospel as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) and as I studied and prayed, I gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon. I was raised Christian, so I already had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and his role as our Savior, but the Book of Mormon came to life for me... The Spirit confirmed to me that this book was indeed a true testament of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As I continued to grow, I also gained a testimony that Joseph Smith was called of God to restore the Gospel as it was in the days of Christ. From that point on, my path was clear... I felt compelled to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. From the time of my baptism, I've never had any doubts about the truthfulness of the Gospel found in the Book of Mormon and the Gospel Principles taught by the LDS Prophets.

How I live my faith

Since the days of my baptism into the LDS Church, I've held many different callings. I especially continue to enjoy the time I spent supporting the Primary and Youth Programs in the Church. It's so rewarding to see the Youth living the values that our Father in Heaven would have them live. I've had the opportunity to teach the Youth and Primary many basic principles of the Gospel. In addition, I've spent many many days camping with the Young Men, attending joint Young Men and Young Women activities, dances, beach trips, Church sponsored Proms, family camps, boating trips, hiking trips, pool parties, and many other fun and wholesome activities. As a husband, I regularly take my wife out on date night and we frequently attend our local Temple for special spiritual experiences. I also make myself available to council with my children when they are in need and provide special Priesthood Blessings to members of the family during important decisions and when they are under the weather.

Are Mormons Christians?
