Hi I'm Jake

I have been a police officer for almost 40 years and I am a Mormon. I love my family, the gospel and my work.

About Me

I have been a police officer for 38 years and am currently a Police Chief. I am married, have 4 grown children and 10 grandchildren. I graduated with a BS in Criminal Justice and then obtained my Masters in Organizational Behavior. I am also an artist. I paint with oils, acrylics and pastels. i particularly like to paint animals that people have loved and lost. To see the expression on their faces is priceless. I paint as a sort of therapy, it helps to reconnect after a hard day of work. My family is the most important thing to me. I love being with my grandchildren and making them laugh. Their laughter brightens the whole world.

Why I am a Mormon

I can't imagine not believing in Jesus Christ, God the Eternal Father, and the Holy Ghost. Every day I see people struggling for answers that seem so simple to me. I know why I am here on the earth, I know what I should do while I am here, and I know where I am going if I live up to the promises that I have made. Every day is a new example of why the Gospel is true.

How I live my faith

My wife and I have a family tradition. We hold hands during prayers and then kiss after the prayer. We have been doing this for over 38 years. I don't know if that is the secrete to a long marriage, but it seems to work for us. My wife also makes sure that we always say a prayer before I go to work, or even when we are leaving the house for a short trip. I can tell you that the prayers work, I am living proof of that.

What is faith?

Jake
I have faith that my Heavenly Father love me. He knows my individual needs and has always been there when I needed him the most. I feel his love, I see his miracles, and I have been protected by the prayers of others. I have faith, not because I know all things, but because I have felt his arms around me. Show more Show less
