Hi I'm Doug

I live in Minnesota and now love Spring, Summer and Fall even more than before...and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah and moved up to Minnesota for work about 3 1/2 years ago. I somehow convinced my beautiful wife to marry me and we now have two amazing boys, 4 & 2. We love Minnesota and hope to be here for a long time. I love running & biking the trails near our home. Saturday's usually start out with a pick-up game of football or basketball with friends. Occasionally, I'll pull out my wife's camera and try to snap a few pictures of our boys or scenic view.

Why I am a Mormon

I was taught the basic principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ when I was young and was baptized when I turned eight. Since then I've had many personal experiences in my life that have strengthened and broadened my testimony. When I was in High School I remember praying about the Book of Mormon and receiving an undeniable witness that it is true. Throughout my life I have tried to follow the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ taught in the Book of Mormon, Bible and by living prophets. As I've done this I have felt a love and peace that can only come from our Heavenly Father. I know our Heavenly Father lives and wants us to return and live with Him. I know that we can do so if we follow the example of His son Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

For me, it's all about balance! I love serving in the church and have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people. I've taught primary kids, served in the Temple and currently organize the lessons and activities for a Sunday school class. I also have a family, job and other responsibilities that take up my time. Sometimes it's not easy to balance all that is going on but I feel that if I read from the scriptures daily, pray often and attend church each week I'm able to incorporate my faith in all that I do: in activities both temporal and spiritual.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Doug
Similar to the Bible, the Book of Mormon is a compilation of writings from ancient prophets who teach and testify that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and Redeemer of the world. The first author, Nephi, describes how his father, Lehi, took his family from Jerusalem and journeyed to the Americas around 600 BC. There were many prophets who kept and maintained this record until it was delivered to Mormon just after 400 AD. The prophets of the Book of Mormon, including Nephi, Mosiah, Alma, Helaman and Mormon, teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their desire was for their families and fellow man to know and follow Christ, to help others understand the Atonement of Christ and come unto Him. I'm grateful to our Heavenly Father for delivering the Book of Mormon to the prophet Joseph Smith, who translated and published the book in 1830 Show more Show less
