Hi I'm Marie

I'm a stay-at-home mom of three. I love to travel and read, and I"m a Mormon.

About Me

I have always enjoyed singing, volleyball, crafts, and participating in community service organizations. I am married to a wonderful man and I am a stay-at-home mom. I completed a two year degree in sign language and I am passing those skills on to my children. I was a full-time missionary in the Detroit, Michigan area for 18 months when I was 21, and love the people of that area. I also love to travel, and the most distant place I've been is Japan.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents that are active members of the "mormon" faith, and was raised going to church, reading scriptures, praying, etc... However, there came a time in my life in my late teens that I really had to figure out if this is what I believed and wanted to do. I had many small daily experiences and wonderful friends that helped me over time to gain my own tesitmony and faith in my Savior, Jesus Christ, and in this church. I know my Savior lived, atoned, died, and was ressurected for me and every person who has ever and will ever live on this earth. I know that we have a merciful Father in Heaven who loves ALL of his children and has provided a way for all to return. I know that the power of God has been restored to earth, and that through this Priesthood power and my active faith I can live with him and my family forever. This life on earth is just a small part of our existence. God has again called prophets, just as He has through out man's history, and we are led by a Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, today.

How I live my faith

I teach the youth ages 9 and 10 in my area about principles of the Gospel of Christ. This year we are focusing on the Old Testament. As the youth participate in lessons and apply the teachings during the week, they earn skittles to go into a jar. When the jar is full after a few months, we all get together for a fun pizza party and eat the skittles! I also visit 4 different women in my neighborhood each month to see how they are doing and share a message of the Gospel with them. We all need to help one another. Another assignment I have is to attend monthly meetings that teach us how to be self reliant and resourceful in storing and preparing food for ourselves and families. I take what I learn and share it with the other women in our area. I recently learned an easy way to make homemade yogurt and cream cheese that I am really excited about! There is no better way to feel a part of a community and to feel needed than to serve others.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. Joseph Smith is a prophet that was called by God to restore Christ's church back to the earth in the 1820's. Just as other Christian churches teach of prophets such as Noah, Moses, and Abraham and the communication they had with God and how they led others to know God's will, we also teach of the prophet Joseph Smith and the way in which God communicated with him to restore Christ's church. We worship only our Savior, Jesus Christ, and our Father in Heaven. Salvation and exaltation are made possible only through them. Show more Show less
