Hi I'm Mike

I am a happy father of seven with twenty eight grandchildren.

About Me

HI I am a Mormon and it is a good thing. I am a retired Army Helicopter Pilot. I am married with seven grown children, five boys and two girls. That brings me to twenty eight grandchildren!!! I have been happily married to the same wonderful lady for forty eight years. I am a convert to the Mormon faith. My wife and I joined the church while I was in flight training at Ft. Rucker AL. in 1965. I am currently retired from my second career and My wife and I are currently serving a senior mission in the San Antonio Mission. Our assignment is to work with military community at Fort Sam Houston.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the church as a young man while I was in military basic training. I had two nice young friends in my basic training unit who just happened to be recently returned Latter Day Saint missionaries. I showed an interest in their beliefs and they did what missionaries do and shared the basic principles of the gospel with me. When I was reunited with my wife and baby son we received the missionary discussions together and the rest is a happy history. I love my savior and serve him wherever I am called. I can not imagine not being a part of this great work. My family has been truly blessed by our membership in the church. All of my children have been successful in their chosen careers and remain very active in the church. When I look out into the world in general I am forever thankful for what I have. The gospel is where I choose to hang my hat.

How I live my faith

As I said above I work in my church and community where I am asked to serve. I have served in many administrative and teaching position over the years. I served as a Latter Day Saint Bishop ( read minister or pastor). Since we are a lay church all of these assignments are in addition to a career of my choosing. My current calling is as a full time missionary. I and my wife serve as Military Relations Missionaries working with the young military trainees at Fort Sam Houston TX. Working with the youth of the church has been one of my favorite callings. I have taught early morning Seminary (religious instruction for youth during their four high school years). I have served as Scout Master several times. I guess with five boys and two girls I was destined to work with youth. It is not easy to serve your church and community and maintain a career but the rewards are so great. My service has given me far more then I can ever give.
