Hi I'm Lori

I am a Wife, Mom, Holistic Health Practitioner, Advocate, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family is filled with various religious beliefs and backgrounds (Jews, Baptists, Catholics, Born-Again Christians, Lutherans, etc. ) My family moved all over the USA growing up which give me great exposure to many different cultures and religions that exist in this country. I was baptized when I turned 8yrs old. I am from a divorced family and one of six children from previous marriages of both my parents. I also have four adopted siblings that are from my fathers current marriage. I am the youngest by 14 years of my biological half siblings. My parents and the youngest of my brothers are converts to the church. They joined the church before I was born. My parents were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. I have a passion for advocacy for special needs children, genealogy, photos, travel, researching / learning new things, music, movies, and I am starting to teach myself how to sew. I am a Mother of 2 boys whom I have been able to have with my husband for eternity. Raising our boys is a huge joy in my life even on the hardest of days. We have been married for 5 years and each day we learn more about how to live in harmony with each other and grow more as a family. We have been through many huge trials in our short time of marriage but it has made us so strong knowing that we have an eternal promise to each other and God. And guess what I am a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I was the first of all my family members to be born into the church. I chose to be baptized as a Mormon because of the happiness that the gospel principles teach me. That through the Atonement of Jesus Christ all my sins will be forgiven. That he will never fail me even when there are trials in my life it has only made my faith of the Lord that much stronger. I know that he watches over me and my family at all times and is our guiding light. The gospel of Jesus Christ is not just some old words some guys wrote down many many years ago. Since he never leaves us he will continually guide us through scriptures, modern revelation and a living prophet just as he did in the days of old. He loves us and will not leave us alone. Being a Mormon is the only decision that makes sense for my life and the life of my family because I believe that through Christ we will be together forever no just death do us part. Family is the most amazing and wonderful thing we have been given along with our own opportunity to come to this earth and learn and grow as individuals. And that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Recently, I have been called to the position of Ward Preparedness Specialist. This calling entails so many things that I am just learning. This covers being the go to person for our ward on all facets of preparedness for type of issues. I am to facilitate the information and resources for not only in a large scale disaster but helping families/individuals prepare themselves for any roadblocks they may encounter in life. I am so excited about this calling and know how huge a responsibility it is that I have been given. I also am an active visiting teacher to a few women in our ward. I love visiting teaching. It is so important to be able to grow a deeper friendship with our fellow sisters. It allows for in a more private setting for the needs of our heart to be voiced and the spirit to shine through the times that are good or bad. Our family regularly attends church even though at times it may be hard with our two small boys. We have regular family home evening nights. That for us extend more to than just one night a week. We always eat dinner as a family and enjoy spending time together. For myself, I can say that I try to read at least a scripture a day. If time permits, I try to also read some church talks from leaders of the church on various topics for that day to help me focus on a particular subject. Above all else, What good is faith if it is not in action? I like to find various ways to serve. Something that seems so small to me could mean so much to another. That's showing the true love of Christ. Its not the amount of knowledge you have as much as it is the use that you put that knowledge to work. There is always someone in need and not of just temporal things. Some times its just a smile, hug, helping someone carry things, a quick note, or running an errand. We all need to know that Heavenly Father loves us and if we are always focused on serving others then all our needs can and will be met through him.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Through actually studying of his teachings in the scriptures, serving others as Jesus did, and most importantly going to the Lord in prayer and sharing with him your thoughts, needs, and questions. If you do this with a sincere and softened heart you will be able to have the guidance you need. Sometimes it may not be what you want but the Lord knows all and will never fail you.
