Hi I'm Michael

I create. I surf. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a writer at an advertising agency in Los Angeles. My wife and I have a one-year-old son who makes us laugh all the time. I like basketball, surfing, listening to classical and rock music and watching college football.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon provides a bigger perspective on what this world is about. And it helps me make choices that will lead me to become a better man. But I guess those are the benefits—the real reason I'm a Mormon is because I believe. I believe in Jesus Christ, that He really was, and is, the Son of God. I believe that he set up a church so that, after he was gone, people could still hear his teachings and follow him. I believe that His church was, over time, corrupted and changed by people. And I believe that a farm boy called Joseph Smith was asked by God to bring back Jesus' Church in this age.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon gives you tons of chances to serve others. This year, we volunteered at a local food bank, painted hundreds of yards of fence for the city of Inglewood and sang Christmas songs to the residents of a convalescent hospital.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Jesus Christ asked those who followed him to share what they knew. It's really that simple. It's also partly instinctual—when you find something you love, like a new band or a new restaurant, you want to tell other people about it. Right? That's why I was a missionary in Mexico. Show more Show less
