Hi I'm Jaime Gacilan

I'm a Filipino and I'm blessed to be a Mormon

About Me

I was born and raised in the Philippines and came to the United States when I was 21 years old I joined the church in 1987. I am married and blessed with 2 girls and two boys ages 18 to 26 and two grandchildren. I enjoy outdoor activities like camping, fishing, water activities and playing basketball. My wife and I are currently involved in caring for adults with developmental disabilities and we enjoy caring, working, and getting to know them.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that families can be together forever and I am happy to know that my family can be with my Heavenly Father and Jesus as long as we follow his commandments and endure to the end . Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father Ye shall have eternal life” 2 Nephi 3120. This is one of my favorite scripture because every time I face adversity I always remember this passage.

How I live my faith

Last year me and the young men had the opportunity to participate in a humanitarian project and it was a blessing for me because by doing this I learned that I can blessed others who are less fortunate. I also coach the young men's basketball, I love working with the youth and love to watch them grow. One time I was assigned to be a home teacher and my companion was a young man who has recently came back from inactivity, every month I call this young man to go and visit a family by doing this I became a good friend to him and later he served a mission.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Jaime Gacilan
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are” 1 Cor. 316–17. By keeping our body clean God will always dwell with us and help us to make good decisions and if we good decisions we are blessed.   Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Jaime Gacilan
Every person who was ever born on earth is our spirit brother or sister. Because In our attempts to fulfill these roles properly, we have perfect role models God our Father and his Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Since a major purpose of our mortal existence is to become like our Heavenly Father through following the example and teachings of his Son Jesus Christ, and since eternal life with our Father will be lived in family units, the ultimate goal of a man or boy is to become an effective husband and father, and the ultimate goal of a woman or girl is to become an effective wife and mother.
