Hi I'm Starla

I'm a native to Arizona in the United States. I love to read and spend time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for about 2 years and am anxious to be a mother. I enjoy reading, listening to music, cooking healthy food and taking care of our new puppy. About a year ago I learned I have food allergies. As a result, I have had to modify my cooking style. I enjoy creating new recipes or modifying existing ones to meet my dietary needs and still eat scrumptious food.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, live. I have known this my entire life, but each day I grow closer to them by reading the scriptures both the Bible and the Book of Mormon and by praying. I have had several hard times throughout my life: illness, death of loved ones, stressful times, etc. In all of these situations I have had the reassurance that God is near and knows me personally. As I read the Book of Mormon, I know I can become like Jesus. In addition, knowing that I can be with my family forever gives me great comfort and peace. No matter what happens, if I follow the Savior, I can be with them even after this life. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. Nothing gives me greater joy than feeling the love of my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My favorite thing is teaching the young children at church. I am in charge of the singing for youth ages 4-12. The looks on their faces as they sing "I Am A Child Of God" gives me happiness. I know that they know God loves them and that is why they are here on earth. I only wish more people knew what those children know about God's love: it is very real and very tangible. I have worked with the women of the church, too. I love Relief Society--the organization for women in the church. I feel such a sense of belonging and faith. I love to hear the stories of other sisters and their struggles and how the grace of God helps them through.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Starla
You can learn whether the Mormon church is true the same way I did. Study the scriptures, pray, and attend church the Mormon church. Remember to pay attention to how you feel when you do these things. God will answer your prayers. You will feel of His love and then you can know what you are doing is right. Answers may come in the least expected way, but they will come. He knows you and loves you. When you feel that, keep praying. Read the Book of Mormon and ask if the book is true. You will know the same way you feel God's love for you. It is an indescribable, but undeniable feeling that gives you knowledge beyond what people can see. Show more Show less
