Hi I'm Joseph

I'm the husband of the most beautiful woman in the world. I am a soon-to-be father. I'm a lawyer. I'm a Marine. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to the most beautiful woman in the world! She is an absolutely incredible woman. I am so lucky to have her in my life. We are patiently awaiting the birth of our precious daughter. I am a lawyer and an officer in the United States Marine Corps. I love running, rock climbing, and cycling.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to great parents. I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following the example and teachings of my beloved parents I learned to love the Lord and keep His commandments. My parents never forced anything on me (except piano lessons, which, regrettably, I intensely resisted). My parents shared with me their testimonies. They each told me individually and in private and sacred moments that they knew that God lived, that Jesus was the Christ, that Joseph Smith was a prophet, but they also told me 'how' they knew. They told me they knew because they had prayed and received a witness by the power of the Holy Ghost. They taught me that I too could receive my own witness of the truth and that it was crucial that I seek my own witness. They warned me that I would never be able to live on "borrowed light." I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today because I have received my own witness and I have no doubt of the truth. I know that God lives and that He is our Father. I know that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, the Great Jehovah, to be the Way the Truth and the Life. I know that Jesus is the Christ, the Redeemer of mankind, and that He was crucified for the sins of the world. I know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God. I know that through him the fulness of the Priesthood of God and the Gospel of the Jesus Christ have been restored to the earth. I know that any man or woman may become acquainted with God. The invitation is unto all all the world. First, we must repent of all our sins for "no unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God." Second, we must be baptized by immersion for the remission of sins by authorized servants. Third, we must receive the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands (again, by authorized servants). Fourth, we must continue to live our lives in obedience, following the prophet, keeping the commandments, and living by every word, which proceeds forth from the mouth of God.

How I live my faith

As I consider the question, "How I live my faith?" I remember the words of a primary song I learned as a child: "I am trying to be like Jesus. I am following in his way. I am trying to love as he did in all that I do and say. At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice, but I try to listen as the still small voice whispers, 'Love one another as Jesus loves you. Try to show kindness in all that you do. Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought. For these are the things Jesus taught.'" My best response is: I am trying to be like Jesus. I know that may sound strange coming from a lawyer and a Marine. However, Christian living does not make one soft or weak. On the contrary, my faith in Jesus Christ, strengthens me and quickens my resolve. Daily, I strive to give my all in any effort to which I am assigned--to work hard and long and to lead from the front. I fight to be completely honest in all of my dealings with others, whether in word or deed. Ultimately, I want to live my life in service. I want to die with calloused hands. Years ago, I spent two wonderful years of my life, serving as missionary in Far Eastern Russia teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and bearing testimony of those things which I know to be true. That experience changed me forever. I hope, someday, to serve with my wife as a full-time missionary again. There is no greater work in which I could be involved. There is no purer way to live my faith.
