Hi I'm Lorel.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of two kids a boy and a girl, and a wife to a law student. Being creative is my number one outlet. I love to cook - and eat, of course - do photography, graphic design, and paint.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the church, by two parents who are both converts. I kind of rode the coat-tails of their faith growing up, until I was an older teenager and decided that if I was going to continue going to church, I needed to know for myself if it was true. I was able to know for myself the truthfulness of the gospel through prayer, but I always had a hold-up on Joseph Smith. I could not understand how a 14 year old boy - knowing many 14 year old boys myself - could have the vision that he had and be called upon to restore the whole truth on the earth. I had studied and prayed about the subject for a time, with no answer. I then watched the movie, Joseph Smith The Prophet of the Restoration, at the visitors center of the temple while in college. During that movie I had a strong impression to pray about the subject again and ask my Father in Heaven if Joseph Smith truly was a prophet of God. An overwhelming feeling of "YES" came over me and I knew I couldn't turn back. I am Mormon because after that moment I knew the church was true and was finally truly converted.

How I live my faith

I love the area that I live in. I am blessed to live by many who are not members of my church. I call this a blessing because I am able learn more about the religions of others, and in return I am able to tell them about mine. Most - if not all - of my friends had completely skewed views of who Mormons were and what they did before meeting me and my family. Now I am happy to say that through talking with me and observing me, they know we are good and normal people who are definitely Christian.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Lorel.
One thing that always reminds me that there is a God is through the love and innocence of my children. I know that there is a God and that He loves me because he gave them to me. There have been a few times in my life when I have felt the love of God for me, in the same - almost tangible way - that I feel love for my own children. Show more Show less

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Lorel.
The church is against abortion. We believe that human life is sacred. In the case of rape, incest, mothers life is in danger, or the baby is known to definitely not be able to live after birth, then an abortion can be prayerfully considered. Show more Show less
