Hi I'm John Burger

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play. Play with my kids, play basketball, football, golf, guitar, harmonica...playing is fun. To be able to play, I also have to work and luckily enough, I get to play while I work. I work for Precision Time www.precisiontimeco.com and I run the social media and e-commerce channels for Precision Time. I also do volunteer work and write a blog to combat modern slavery and human trafficking. No one should be for sale. This is a passionate cause of mine. You can read more at www.abolitionistjb.blogspot.com. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." - Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Why I am a Mormon

It came down to prayer. I read the Bible and Book of Mormon when I was a teenager. I wanted to know if they were true. If God really existed and if Jesus is the Christ, our Saviour. I took the challenge from James 1:5 to go and ask God. I remember kneeling down in my room late one night and pleading with the Lord to know if he was there, if Jesus was my Savior and if the Book of Mormon is His word. An overwhelming sense of peace and warmth came over me in a way I can't describe. This witness and many other miracles and testimonies of faith is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Through prayer, scripture study and service. For the last 6 years I have served with young men in our congregation through scouting, weekly youth activities, campouts, Sunday lessons, service projects and administering the sacrament. It's amazing to see teenage boys become men. Some of the boys I first started working with are now married with kids. Makes me feel old, but it brings a lot of joy. I also do a lot of work with non-profits combating modern slavery in the United States and in countries around the world. I write a blog www.abolitonistjb.blogspot.com to help raise awareness about events, recent news, petitions for better laws regarding human trafficking and more. No one should be for sale. This is a passionate cause of mine. You can read more at www.abolitionistjb.blogspot.com. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." - Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
