Hi I'm Makenna

I'm a mother, I'm a photographer, I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Utah, in High School I played the Violin and Cello in the Orchestra. I also danced and was on our schools Skills-USA VICA opening and closing ceremonies team. In college I majored in Parks and Recreation, and Danced on the schools Drill Team. I graduated the summer of 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Park and Recreation. I was married in 2008 and now have a beautiful daughter. As a family we love to camp, rock climb, hike, ride bikes, take pictures and play together.

Why I am a Mormon

My ancestors were some of the Mormons that came across the planes to Utah, so I was born a Mormon and I was baptized when I was 8 years old. This does not mean that I should just be a Mormon because my parents were I needed to find out for my self if the teaching of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints was true. I know through prayer and study of the Bible and the Book of Mormon that the teaching of this Church are true. I feel that truth in my heart as a pray and read the words of Jesus Christ. Its a feeling that brings joy to my heart and my life.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church I have a many opportunities to serve, one of the greatest opportunities was for 18 months I served an LDS mission in Arequipa, Peru. While I was there I taught people about our church. Now I have the opportunity to serve young children, I teach a class of 9 year old children on sundays. During the week I work with Cub Scouts as a Bear Den Leader. As a Family we get together with other families once a week to teach each other from the scriptures and play games. I also have the opportunity to visit with two sisters each month in these visits we are able to talk with each other about the teachings of the church and help each other when needed.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

When missionaries come to visit in your home they bring a message about the Church of Jesus Christ. They will talk about how Christ organized his church while he was on the earth and the teaching of the Bible. They will also talk about Christ's Church now. They may also talk about Faith, Baptism and answer questions like where we were before this life and why we are here. The missionaries will also invite you to pray to know if what they are teaching is true. They may also bring members of the Church with them to visit with you and answer any questions you may have about the church. Show more Show less

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is an organization for women. As women we meet together a few times a week to learn from each other. On sundays we meet together and talk about the gospel of Jesus Christ. During the week we meet together in groups and learn skills from each other. We teach each other things like sewing, scrap booking, and many other things. We also look out for one another. We do something that we call visiting teaching. We visit each other and teach a message and offer service to one another. The Relief Society is an amazing organization that has helped me in so many ways from help I needed cooking meals when my baby was first born to becoming some of my closest friends.
