Hi I'm Benjamin

I'm a young father. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a young dad attending college. I am working to go into systems analysis, although the bulk of my study in school was Neuroscience. I am a long distance runner, avid philosopher, singer, and cook. I love spending time with my family, and try to always put them first in my life. I enjoy playing a good video game or two and definitely enjoy watching movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it leads to the greatest peace and happiness. God wants us to be happy, and he called prophets to let us know what will make us happier. I prayed for myself and know that this is what God wants for me, and it's what I want for me and my family.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday. I read my scriptures everyday and pray to God everyday. I tell my friends about my faith because it has been such a blessing in my life and I want them to have what I have. I also serve in our congregation as a teacher, and I review with the brothers the message of the prophet from this last General Conference, in which the whole world can hear from the Apostles and the Prophet. I try to follow the precepts of Christ in everything I do.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Something can be true without my believing its true. God teaches us all truth by the Holy Ghost, which opens our minds and hearts. But in order for us to begin learning truth from God, we must study the thing out in our mind and with our actions (the scriptures refer to this as real intent). After we do these things, then we should ask God in the name of Jesus Christ if what we are doing is in alignment with His will for us, or in other words, if Mormonism is true. I have done this for myself and I have found that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the church that contains all truth. You will know the same, when you read and pray about the Book of Mormon, the greatest evidence of the truth of our beliefs. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

"We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it translated correctly, we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the Word of God." (Article of Faith #8). The Bible is a very special record. It records the creation of man, the movings of the children of Israel, and the mission of the Savior. The life of the Savior and His words are priceless to us. We believe that over the thousands of years since the prophets wrote the books in the Bible, that some portions have been changed to the loss of truth. However, the Bible contains many things that are true. We read the Bible because it brings us closer to God. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

They will teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. It has always been taught by prophets, but when people reject that prophet, people forget the truths that they teach. When the people are ready, God calls another prophet to bring back all the things that were lost. After the people rejected Jesus Christ and His servants, the truth was also lost for a time, but it has been brought back again through another prophet, named Joseph Smith. He was the first prophet of the latter days. The missionaries will tell you how he was called to be a prophet and what you can do to know for yourself that this is true. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Husband and wife are an important part of the most important unit in the church the family. Husband and wife are to foster a home in which children can learn obedience to God's commandments and to love their neighbors. Teaching by example and in unity is an important part of raising children. Both mother and father have a necessary and important role in the lives of their children. Parents’ work in the home will be more effective if their first priorities are God, each other, and their children. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We believe that the mercy of Christ is infinite. He loves us so much as to suffer and die for us. Because he paid this price, we can repent and be made clean. Repentance is gift from God that allows us to accept the grace of Christ in our lives. The grace that we can receive from God is not only the forgiveness of sins, but also the strength to become better people. All the blessings we receive from God are a part of His grace. We believe that it is through grace we return to live with God again, but that we must accept this free gift by acting in faith and obedience to the commandments of God. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I have found God in the many places in my life. Right now I study Neurobiology. I have fond that the best way to learn a thing is to have small consistent study sessions, in comparison to the big event in one big flash. The Lord works in the first way, saying that He teaches us line upon line, precept on precept, here a little there a little. A wicked and perverse generation seeketh after a sign. This sign will not stay with us as long or as intensely as those small whisperings of the Holy Ghost. No uneducated man could presuppose these things. Since it was not found in man's learning, God has revealed His ways, as well as the way that is best for us, through a modern day prophet. This is one way today that I see God. Show more Show less
