Hi I'm Byron

I create phone apps. I play volleyball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated with my masters and I'm now working in Texas. While at school, I would hang out with friends, go snowboarding, and play a lot of sports. I really miss being with all of my friends, going to classes, and living a college-lifestyle, but Texas has been great! I'm still adjusting to the "real" world of work and paying all of my new bills, but I feel I am adjusting well. I'm the first one of my family to really move away from home, so I don't have anyone close to really relate to, but I'm learning a lot with each day.

Why I am a Mormon

Being born and raised in a Mormon family, I naturally followed the example of my parents and siblings to be baptized when I turned eight, but I've had experiences before and after my baptism that solidified my decision. I know the gospel is true because I feel it, live it, and experience many things that have come from it. From all of my experience, the most important came from reading the Book of Mormon and praying to know if it is true. The Book of Mormon testifies of God the Father, Jesus Christ and his life, the Bible and it's validity, and the gospel and all of its principles. It is only by prayer and study are how I know these things are true.

How I live my faith

I organize cleaning groups to go through our church building each Saturday and make sure it's clean and ready for church for the next day. Getting 10 to 15 people up early Saturday (well, 9am) isn't always the easiest thing to do. I've been fortunate to have a great group of people that have made it a priority...but breakfast tacos seem to help, too. Now that I'm in a new stage of my life, the gospel has taken on a different light. Where before I had more flexibility in my schedule, now trying to find time to sit and study the scriptures is a task. Conversely, the opportunities to put the principles into practice has multiplied so I have a lot more experiences applying the gospel. With each principle that I have put into practice, I have seen the blessings come as a result. Sometimes the blessings come immediately. Other times, much later. I have grown to learn patience and have found joy in my life, even when stress, doubt, and concern have crept in. My job is hard! I've been asked to do things that I've never done before and things that I'm not sure I can do, but it's in these times that I have clung to the gospel and have found not only comfort, but in remarkable ways I have found the answers to my problems. The gospel isn't something I do once a week; it doesn't work that way. It's a daily lifestyle that has brought me immense joy and satisfaction.
