Hi I'm Travis

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married to my best friend who happens to be my wife. For work and for fun I teach high school Spanish. I am a sports guy who will play anything from ultimate frisbee to ping pong but I prefer basketball, golf, and fishing. I grew up on a farm in California but I am now enjoying the New England way of life. Although my life has recently been challenging I consider myself very happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, my parents having been converted in their teens. I have decided to continue on this path for me and my family because of the assurance it gives me. I realized this while away at college. There, I chose to lead a different life and do those things that I thought I had missed out on during high school. I slowly realized that I was missing something in my life and decided to do the things that had always rendered what I was looking for true happiness. I am a Mormon because I know that through the teachings of our church I can find meaning and peace in this life.

How I live my faith

I am the bishop of our congregation. This entails an intense commitment to those with whom we worship. I love being in this position because of the unique ways I am able to help others. I don't do it for money, we don't get paid. I do this because it is my opportunity and duty to serve especially because I have been given so much.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Mormons believe that God is a real, tangible, living being made of flesh and bone. His body is eternal not like our fragile bodies and therefore perfect and immortal. We believe that he is the father of us all. Many of us resemble our fathers who raised us here on earth. Much like this, we resemble our Heavenly Father. We were created in his image. Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The church is the same church that Jesus Christ has always had upon the earth. Christ in past times has called prophets to lead His church. Examples are Moses, Abraham, Noah, and Peter. As He has always done, Christ called Joseph Smith as a prophet, to lead His church in modern times. Since Joseph Smith there has been a living prophet on the earth. Show more Show less
