Hi I'm Guy

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in California, was a firefighter, am retired.

About Me

I was gifted a little in that I could run faster than some other people, so I ran the hurdles on our high school track team. I played football too, but I was pretty bad. I enjoyed studying languages, for some reason, so I studied French andSpanish in HS. I still have many fond memories of my great high school classmates. For the summer after high school graduation, I was an exchange student. It was great. I tried to learn a some language and customs. It was a rich experience. After this, I started College. I majored in Spanish. I met a young girl there, and soon after, we were married. We had four children Later, we took in a Foster son. He is our fifth child. When our children were young, we all joined the LDS Church. Our sons both served missions. Our older son passed away when he was 27. We have 9 grandchildren, 2 of whom are married. As a young married college student, I had several jobs. I finally got a career job with a municipal fire department. I served there for 33 years. I returned to college and majored in Chinese. After retirement, we moved to a large home with three acres, trees, and a stream. Our children and grandchildren come to visit us, and we all have a wonderful time. My wife and I are currently serving a mission. I am serving as the safety specialist at a Church property. My sweet wife serves along with me. I am far from perfect. I wish I could do a lot of things over, so that I could try to avoid some of my mistakes. I am grateful to the redeeming grace offered through the Savior. All that I am and all that I have, owe to our God and to my sweet wife. She has been wonderful, picking me up when I fall and encouraging me to do better. God has shown me the way to find eternal life. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is true.

Why I am a Mormon

I wondered why Jesus Christ would reveal himself to a small group of people (the Jews of Israel) and not to others in the world. The missionaries explained to me that he had also revealed himself to others and introduced me to the Book of Mormon, a record of the ancient Americans. After reading and praying about it, I was convinced that the bood was a true record. Other things fell into place, as well.

How I live my faith

There are many opportunities to serve, in the Church. Currently, my wife and I are serving as a "senior couple" mission at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii.
