Hi I'm Todd

I love my family, friends, and neighbors, and hope they know it. I love the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to the sweetest, most beautiful woman in the world who I try to tell every day that I love her more than anything. We are waiting on the Lord for the blessing to become parents, but we do have a couple of cats that we love. I enjoy playing board and card games, and other types of brain-teaser type activities, including learning about all types of computer scripting / software development to automate and organize tasks. I am a database software developer / computer programmer and have worked with a few different companies ranging in size from two employees to thousands. My work has been very enjoyable and educational- I count it a real blessing to be able to give service in this way to the community.

Why I am a Mormon

I was taught by very wonderful parents the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. These things have guided and been a huge part of my whole life. There came a point when I realized I needed to be sure and have my own testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Whether what I had been taught was true or not, I wanted to know it. Eternity is a pretty big deal, right? : Not just my own, but also everyone else in my circle of influence. So I studied and prayed to know for myself. I also continued to follow what I felt were the right things to do - to attend church and to give love and service to others. The Lord knew my heart. He knew I sincerely wanted to know, and that I planned to put that knowledge into action. I received an answer to my prayers. I felt His Love surround me, and I believed, and felt that I had the personal evidence I needed, to be able to say that I know that what I had been taught was true. I felt that I had received a witness from the Holy Ghost. There is so much other evidence of the truth of the gospel- the good works of the people and of the church- the way that it all makes sense to me in my mind. But beyond those things, the spiritual witness that I received and that I still continue to receive as I serve Him faithfully- that is the greatest evidence to me personally that He lives and loves me, and all of us, even beyond our comprehension. It is great evidence to me that God still follows the pattern that He followed in ancient times- of calling a prophet to lead us and teach us, and that He has fulfilled His promises by restoring the Gospel of His Son back to the earth, to teach us what we need to know to return to live with Him again. Thank you for taking the time to read what is most precious to me - This is my testimony I share in the name of my Savior Jesus Christ, amen

How I live my faith

My wife Becky and I live our faith together, "equally yoked", by doing our very best to be dependable in the eyes of the Lord, and in the eyes of the people of the church and community. We want others to be able to count on us to faithfully attend to the duties and responsibilities that are ours- not just in church duties, which is a big portion of our time, but also in family and neighborly responsibilities. I would feel very ungrateful if I did not always try to do what the Lord wants me to do. Perhaps some may feel that the requirements are too hard- but I know that it is worth it. The blessings are great- and so I want to never hesitate to serve the Lord. I served a full time mission in Georgia, and have served in various callings since then, like stake/ward missionary, home teacher, primary teacher, exec secretary, counselor to bishop, HP secretary, etc. These chances to give service have been very rewarding opportunities to get to work both with the youth in the church and with other adult leaders. It is amazing to me how the people in the church will step up to their responsibilities, including even the youth on their own initiative. I also served a calling to help teach English to those who do not speak it as their first language, which was an exciting chance to get to know people better of the Mexican culture. In my employment I also work a lot with people from Mexico. They are all very friendly and reflect love and caring for others. I hope to be able to always show a good example to the people I work with in all the areas of my life.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Todd
I'll share just one thing for now that to me is a great evidence of God - The complexities of computer software development sometimes can leave my mind spinning- but our most intelligent hardware and software developers have not come near to being able to develop something like the human brain and nervous system. I cannot fathom how it would even be possible to accomplish such a task. Yet, there are those who believe that the human brain, nervous system, and consciousness are only a product of random, un-guided evolution. I do not buy it. : Without getting too deep into the subject, I believe that while some type of random evolution might be possible, for such a process to produce such a creature as man and woman, with no guidance from a higher power, is so highly unlikely, I would count it as practically impossible. Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Todd
Our spirits and bodies will be united for all eternity because Jesus Christ overcame physical death for all of us. What we do with our bodies makes us who we are in eternity, in the sense that we will carry with us to the next life our habits and our sense of discipline from this life. If we have a hard time with something now, it will not magically become easier for us in the next life- we will even have to work harder to repent and overcome those things if we do not do it in this life. We desired very much to have physical bodies before we were born here so that we could gain certain experience that we lacked. Then for all eternity we would have the supernal blessing of being able to be perfected, to become complete and holy, if we can "pass the test", or prove our faith in Christ, in this life. It means we will be able to have a fulness of joy, if we repent and endure faithfully to the end! Those who did not have ample opportunity in this life can still have the chance in the waiting period after this life. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Todd
We want to take care of ourselves physically, spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually. The Word of Wisdom was revealed from the Lord to a prophet in our time to help us accomplish all of these. It's easy to know how living this law brings physical health, which leads to emotional and intellectual health. The interesting and maybe most important part, however, is our spiritual health. By following this law given to us as a commandment from the Lord, we secure for ourselves spiritual and eternal blessings. It seems obvious to me that living this law has really helped us be closer to the Spirit of the Lord. Perhaps the best way for someone to understand how this is true is to just begin to show faith and live by it. It may take a great lifestyle change in some cases, but the Lord is definitely going to help, and so will your wonderful mormon neighbors. :) Show more Show less
