Hi I'm Tibor.

I love my family. I love learning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Hungarian living in the United Kingdom with my English wife and four children. I have worked as an English teacher, translator, interpreter and now I work for a local authority with people with learning disabilities. I love learning. I have an MA in English, a vocational qualification in accountancy, a recent A-level in Biology and I am getting ready to study Occupational Therapy at university. I love learning about how life works, from particle physics to cellular biology to social history, and I enjoy bringing it all together with what the gospel teaches. I am not an expert in any of these fields, I guess this curiosity about the world is more like my hobby.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised without any religious instruction and without any guidance but I had a lot of questions. I had to set out on my own for my answers, always observing, thinking, reading, debating, continually drawing up my own theories and wondering why they didn't work. Life had its joys, friends and poetry the biggest ones, but I could never feel any closer to unlocking the great truths I was interested in. My now wife introduced me to the restored gospel during long conversations we had when we first met. What she shared with me sounded improbable and very different to my long-held ideas but out of love and respect for her I put her beliefs to the test and they proved themselves right. I love the gospel. God gave me an opportunity to get to know Him and I am happy that I took it. Heavenly Father showed me that He is real, that He sent Jesus Christ to atone for my sins and that He sends the Holy Ghost to guide and comfort me every day. I cherish His promises because He has proven to me that He keeps His word. God loves all His children and I feel that He knows and cares for me personally. I have read the Book of Mormon many times now and I know that God gave us that book as another testament to reinforce the message of the Holy Bible. Jesus Christ reorganised and leads his church today with prophets and apostles and continual revelation. And most importantly: through God's revealed ordinances my family can stay together forever to enjoy never ending happiness. I don't want to miss out on that.

How I live my faith

I practise my faith daily. I read the scriptures or the teachings of church leaders each day. I pray to my Heavenly Father every morning and evening and any other time I need to, on my own and with my family. We hold family home evenings once a week where we learn of the gospel and have some fun and treats. And I try to follow the example Jesus set in how I think, feel, speak and act towards others. Everyone in the church has an opportunity to serve. I have helped with record keeping and finances, taught Sunday School and twice had the responsibility of leading a local congregation. With this background I have been asked to support and advise leaders of a neighbouring congregation which is what I do now. The great thing about service is that it benefits both the giver and the receiver. It's great to see the joy or relief in the eyes of someone you've helped and the Holy Spirit gives you peace and confidence when you serve someone in need. Service helps form bonds between people that are enduring and uplifting.
