Hi I'm Zachary

I'm a musician. I'm a composer and performer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent graduate in music composition. I am now a Master's student in music composition. My love is music and you can probably already tell that. Aside from composing, I play the french horn and piano. Besides music, I love photography. I find it so fascinating and creative. Technology is very interesting and I spend a lot of time trying to educate myself about the newest things.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born into a Mormon family, this is not the only reason why I am a Mormon. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints provides me with the direction I need in this life. Otherwise, I would live day to day as if I were lost. The Gospel provides the peace in my life that is otherwise hard to find in this world where so many terrible things are happening. It gives me hope for a better world. It makes me want to be a better person. It shows me how to love everyone around me and to serve them to the best of my ability.

How I live my faith

Sunday is a very special day for me. It really is my day of rest and worship. I take myself away from the everyday things, such as school and work, to serve and worship my Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. At my local congregation, I am responsible for the music. I make sure that I arrive early, before most other members get there, so that I can play hymns and other spiritual songs that will invite the spirit into the meeting. Church is set up as a 3-hour block and I plan each Sunday to be there for the full 3 hours. I learn so much and my faith is strengthened every time.

Who are the Mormons?

Mormons are people who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We believe in Jesus Christ. He is our Savior and Redeemer. The Mormon name actually comes from the Book of Mormon, which is scripture and a record of the people of the American continent that lived during the time of Christ. Prophets kept these records and handed them down from generation to generation. Mormon is one of these prophets in this book and this book gets its name from him. He was responsible to collect all of the records and abridge them into one book. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. We talk a lot about Joseph Smith because he was instrumental in restoring the gospel of Jesus Christ. We honor and praise him for all that he did for the church in the early 1800's. Without his thirst for knowledge and spiritual guidance from God, the church may not have been founded and restored at that time. Though he was instrumental in starting this church, our focus is on worshiping and serving our Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
