Hi I'm Overland Afo

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am a caregiver for my younger brother Tuifiaola Afo. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to help people acheive their dreams and I strive to be the best humantarian to those around me. I have a passion for writing. So I've written songs, poems and blog. I grew up trained in Polynesian dancing and have served in many leadership roles. Both in my community and in my ward. I love learning from other people of their cultures & traditions.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because at the age of 14 years old and listening to the Elders that taught my siblings and I the restored gospel. I knew there was no way this couldn't be the Church of Christ. Because what right mind man as Joseph Smith Jr. go through all that persecution and this gospel not be true. I compared his life to the life of Christ & I knew from that discovery that he was choosen for this work. And that he isn't to take Christ's place. But that he lived that we could come to know Christ for ourselves & to praise Heavenly Father through Christ. That we might all live with him again one day. I am a Mormon still because I don't believe that God would send humble men to lead us astray. And the only way I know all of these things is because I've searched it all out on my own. So I can have my own testimony and not rely on others. I know God lives and Jesus is his Son, sent here to redeem us and through prophets of old and present we are given the plan of salvation. That if we have faith as small as a mustard seed we will come to know that the Book of Mormon is true and that the Lord has our best in mind. In the name of our Savior Jesus Christ amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by communicating to God through Christ by offerring sincere prayer for direction. My prayers are never ending. As to say I talk to him as much as I can so I will remain on his side. Before I was called to serve as a full-time missionary. Back in 2002-2003 in the Los Angeles California Mission to preach Christ's teachings. I was a primary teacher for the 5 year old children, active member of a non-churched non-spounsered gospel choir by the name of Divine Heritage spreading missionary work, I left for my mission. Returned to again serve in primary, choir and then I entered the young adult program for the church. Where individuals 18-31 years old would serve amoung their peers. In order to teach the gospel, interact, build friendships & if fortunate date & marry one another. In this ward I served as a church historian, librarian, sunday school teach and now a youth teacher. And this is how I keep my faith strong.
