Hi I'm Kenisha Thompson

I grew up in the suburbs of L.A. I am singer/actress and I teach voice as well. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to perform! I sing opera and musical theatre! I studied music vocal performance in college and currently teach on the side. I am also apart of 2 national touring singing groups. In one, we perform different selections from opera and musical theater productions and in the other group, the show is based on African American history utilizing the music of African American Women. We've performed in many different venues all over the United States including universities. I am also a proud mother of 2 beautiful children. I have a girl and a boy and they are my pride and joy. They, along with my husband are the my drive to to what I do.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother joined the church when I was 3 years old so I have been a Mormon all of my life. I hadn't always had strong testimony though, nor did I always live the standards expected of a Mormon. I wasn't very happy and had issues with self-worth.All I knew is that I wanted to be happy, and by sitting back and evaluating things I had done in the past, I realized that I wasn't ever truly happy even though it may have seemed that way on the outside. So I began searching the scriptures, praying and communicating with God something I never really did before. It then lead me to serving and attending church on a regular basis. I began to see a change in my countenance and I loved it! My soul needed to be fed spiritually in order for me to be happy. I know without these things I would not be here today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. I try and share my talent of singing that Heavenly Father has blessed me with. I like to go to the different convalescent homes or assisted living communities and put on mini recitals. I do it once or twice a month. Recently, I served as primary music leader for children 4 to 11 years of age; What a wonderful opportunity to learn about the teachings of the gospel and teach children the love of Heavenly Father through the gift of music! I love serving my fellow sisters as a visiting teacher and enjoy the love and support of my own. Whether it be over lunch or a play date, we strive to meet up at least once a month.
