Hi I'm Ray

I'm a Mormon. I have been a Mormon for about 40 years now. I love every bit of it. I would not change a thing today.

About Me

I am a retired school counselor/teacher. I have served in the military and as a city police officer. I am married with grandchildren. I enjoy working on my family history. I have one branch of my family tree Stewart traced back to 1590 the Stewarts of Scotland. Another branch ties in with King Charlemagne of France 742AD. Finding my ancestors has been a very rewarding experience. I have learned that they were not just names & numbers. But, were real people with real lives and challenges.

Why I am a Mormon

About 40 years ago, two young men knocked on my door and told me they had a message for me from Jesus Christ. My curiosity peaked. I allowed them in to tell me more. They explained that they were missionaries form the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and proceeded to teach me about their church. I listened with great interest as they taught me about the restored gospel, Joseph Smith, and the Book of Mormon. They also taught me that families could be together forever in Heavenly Father's kingdom after this earth life. The many things they taught me were new doctrine to me. I had never heard of these things before. However, the most important thing they taught me was to pray for the truth. They challenged me to ask God the eternal Father if the things they were teaching were true. I accepted their challenge. That night I prayed to know the truth. I had recognized that if it were true, my salvation and that of my family depended on knowing. The Lord touched my heart by the power of the Holy Ghost that night. I know beyond a doubt that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Book of Mormon is true and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Lord's restored church upon the earth today.

How I live my faith

Since I have joined the Mormon Church, my life has completely changed. My faith and testimony has grown by leaps and bounds. The harder I try to keep the commandments of God the more enriched my life becomes. I am a happier and more dedicated person. Religion is not just a Sunday activity. I try to live my faith every day of the week. I have daily prayers, study the scriptures regularly, and try to be honest in all my affairs. As a result, I have been and continue to be greatly blessed. Although sometimes life brings difficulties and sadness, I know that when I am going through a difficult time the Lord has my back. I can turn to Him any time 24/7 and ask for help. I can ask for forgiveness of my mistakes. There is a great inner peace that comes from knowing that the Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ love me unconditionally and is always there to help me and forgive me.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

One of the most glorious teachings of the church is that families can be together forever. Husband and wife along with their children can go to a temple of the Lord and be sealed for time and eternity. Which basically means that they can be together as a family in Heaven after they die and leave this earth life. One of the reasons that Mormons do genealogy work is to identify their family ancestors and have them sealed together as families in one of the temples. All other religions teach that marriage is until "death do you part". Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could be with your family for eternity? That possibility has been made available to us through temple worship. Show more Show less
