Hi I'm Chris

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. I love the outdoors, photography, films, and scooters. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I met my beautiful wife at a grocery store checkout stand and we have been married for 10 years. We have four awesome, energetic kids - 3 boys and 1 girl. Being a dad is a great adventure. Some of my other favorite adventures include backpacking, fly fishing, landscape photography, and riding (and fixing) scooters. I also like to run and mountain bike and have completed one triathlon and two marathons. Currently I'm working to get in shape for another triathlon. I am an instructional designer, creating computer-based training programs. I used to be a professional videographer and still enjoy producing narrative and biographical video programs from time to time.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and always felt loved and supported there. However, for a long time I relied on the convictions of my parents, friends, and leaders without having a sure knowledge for myself if the church was actually true. When I left home for college I realized I needed to know for myself. I decided to read the Book of Mormon and to pray about it. I knew if this book was true that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must be true as well. I read the entire book and then prayed to ask God if this book is true. I felt a simple, but undeniable feeling of peace and warmth in my heart and knew at that point that it was true. I knew that this book and the Bible contained the complete and true gospel of Jesus Christ and decided that I needed to follow His teachings in my life. Today I continue to live the gospel the best that I can each day because Christ's teachings bring me peace.

How I live my faith

For the last couple of years I have been a youth leader in my local ward. I have helped to teach young men the Gospel on Sundays and have had many opportunities to take them on outdoor activities like camping, snowboarding, and river rafting. It has been a great experience watching these great kids grow as they learn about Christ and decide to follow his gospel. Recently I received a new assignment to help lead the missionary work in our ward. I'm excited to help the members in our ward share the gospel with their friends and neighbors. Every one should hear the teachings of Christ.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Families are essential to God's plan. We are here on Earth to learn right from wrong and to choose to live right. Families provide an environment where these lessons can be learned early on, so we can have a foundation of character as we grow and mature. Families can continue to provide support throughout our lives as we face new challenges. This support and love can continue after death because families can be together forever. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost is a member of the godhead, along with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. All three are separate beings but they are united in purpose - their main goal is to provide immortality and eternal life to all of God's children. Unlike Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost does not have a body. This allows him to provide a spiritual witness to God's children of all truth, including the truths of the Gospel.
