Hi I'm John

I live in WI and have been richly blessed with a good family, friends and experiences in my life. I thank God for such.

About Me

I have lived in Wisconsin for the past 13 years and work in the agricultural sector, particularly with seed sales. I have always enjoyed working raising crops, I guess because my dad had a hobby farm and I got to help. My wife and I have four children, three girls and a boy. They have been active in sports, music, and friends in the community. The oldest girls, twins, are going to college now and we wish we could see them more. I really enjoy playing basketball and play with a group during lunch time if I am at home. The sad thing is that my knees have been giving me problems for the past year and I am worried that I may have to give up the sport. There is a good group of guys I play with and they seem to accept me just fine. We even have a couple ministers from another religion play with us and I am a minister in our church. It is cool that we seem to get along just fine.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I was born into a family that was this religion. More importantly, I am a mormon because there came a time when I had to decide for myself if this faith is what I was going to follow. I have gained knowledge and personal assurance that the teachings and doctrines of this church are true. This has come to me in my heart and in my mind - both essential to my faith in Jesus Christ and being a mormon.  Being a Mormon adds dimension and purpose to my life. There are so many questions that the gospel of Jesus Christ answers. Understanding to life comes through gospel study, as well as practice and brings peace to my soul. The gospel does not eliminate hardships and doesn't make me financialy rich. It does bring comfort in times of trial and a wealth of spiritual understanding.

How I live my faith

While I am more than willing to share my beliefs with others, I don't feel I should impose them on others. I accept others for their beliefs and hope they respect me for mine. Though I don't drink alcahol, when I go to work related dinner and others drink, they have accepted me ordering a lemonade or soda. I serve in the church as part of a presidency over various congregations. I get to go to various meetings in different towns to support and teach others. A part I like most is being able to share my thoughts and feelings my testimony with others of how the gospel of Jesus Christ has touched me or others.

In whom should we have faith?

John
Faith requires belief in something that is real and the combined actions to support that belief. We should have faith in Jesus Christ and in Heavenly Father and live in a way that helps us draw closer to them. Faith in Jesus Christ involves knowing that He loves us, showed us the way to live and made it possible for us to find a happiness in this life and in the life to come. As we live - following Jesus' example - we will certainly go through hardships and if we continjue to do what is right those hardships will be what makes us better people and happier in the end.
