We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Kate

I'm an auto insurance adjuster, a fashion designer on the side, an Arizonan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona but was away for 7 years before moving back in late 2013. In my time away I went to school in Utah, served an 18-month mission in Montana & Wyoming, and lived for a short time in London. I love to travel, to design clothes, to read, to cook, to watch movies, and spend quality time with my family & friends. I also love listening to the prophet & apostles speak, reading my scriptures, helping others, and going to the temple.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was 8 years old and grew up in the church. When I was 13 or 14 I read the Book of Mormon for the first time all the way through on my own. When I finished, I prayed to know if it was true and I received a powerful feeling from the spirit confirming it as the word of God. I've read it several times through now and each time I feel the spirit witness to me that it is a true book of scripture. Studying the Book of Mormon has strengthened my conviction that Jesus Christ is the savior of the world and that Joseph Smith was called by God to be his mouthpiece in our day. I am grateful to have a living prophet today who can speak the words of God just like Moses of old. Because of modern revelation all the pieces of Christ's church are back on the earth and contained in one church again- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As I've continued to strive to follow Christ's gospel and live by the teachings of His church, I have found great peace and happiness in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith on a personal level as I study the scriptures, pray, and attend church. I love doing each of these things and have felt strengthened spiritually as I do them. Another way I live my faith is by helping out in church. I have taught children in Sunday School, I have played the piano in church, and I served a mission. A mission is an opportunity to teach people about my faith and invite them to try it too. As a missionary I also offered service, or help, to those in need. This was a special opportunity I had for 18 months to completely give of myself in teaching and helping others. I try every day to act on my faith by keeping God's commandments. I've come to see that keeping the commandments is the only way to be truly happy and it's the best way to show our love for God. I also try to follow the example of the Savior and act as He would if He were here. I am far from perfect, but as I work on being like Him everyday, I can feel the spirit more in my life and my faith grows.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Kate
No. We love and respect Joseph Smith because he was a prophet of God, but we do not worship him. We only worship God, the Eternal Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Kate
No. It has to be something they want to do. I felt like I needed to serve a mission, so I filled out an application for it and I loved every minute of being a missionary. Show more Show less
