Hi I'm Joshua

I've grown up in the home counties of England

About Me

I'm 23 years old and am a law student at the University of Cambridge. I live with my beautiful wife in Cambridge.

Why I am a Mormon

My Grandparents joined this Church when they were young, for the which I am deeply grateful. My parents have taught me the principles by which I have been able to gain my own understanding and conviction of the truthfulness of the Gospel. When I was 11 we moved abroad for a couple of years, and it was during this time that I really read the Book of Mormon for myself and, through this and other significant experiences, received a witness of the truth. I am continually impressed by how essential it is to read the scriptures daily, as they provide a channel for personal communication with God. It has been by abiding the principles of the Gospel that I have come to know keenly and deeply that Jesus Christ is the Redeemer of the human family, and that I am blessed to be a member of His true Church on earth.

How I live my faith

Much of what we 'do' in the Church- home-teaching, study, missionary service and so forth- is to enable us to 'become' better. It is with the assistance of the Saviour, extended to us through obedience to his commandments, that we can become more than we are, and ultimately more like Him.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Joshua
In speaking of 'why' people do things, we can distinguish between their 'reason' for doing so and their 'motive'- often people aren't motivated to do the right thing even if they have sufficient reason. The reason Mormon missionaries proselyte is because the Saviour's commandment to the early Apostles, which was re-affirmed to Joseph Smith, is still in force: 'preach the Gospel to every creature'. Although many people can approach God from different directions, the only path which will ultimately brings us back to His Presence is the path which He has laid down. That path is the Gospel of Christ, which is to only be found in its pure and authorised wholeness in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That is the 'reason': to invite everyone to walk that path. The motive, quite simply, is love. Love for one's fellow man, which at times can go unreciprocated, and above all love for God, 'because He first loved us'. Show more Show less
