Hi I'm Tracy

I grew up in Utah, served a mission to South Africa, married my sweetheart and have 5 wonderful kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married now for 22 years to a wonderful, loving wife, and love spending time with my family, being outdoors, camping and cooking. I am a father of 5 children and my oldest son is currently serving as a full time missionary in California. I work full time, settling Long Term Disability claims for a national life and disability carrier. At the end of the work day, I look forward to leaving work to spend time with my wife and children. One of my new hobbies is that of cooking. I love to try new things, most of which turn into a new menu item for our home. I alter recipes to make them more healthy, and because of that, my children think I am a health nut. Another hobby I have is working on cars. I also help others with their car repairs, which has saved many hundreds of dollars for myself and them. Many hours are spent in service to others and my family in some way or another. I go with my youngest son, as I did with my oldest son, to help him with his job of mowing lawns. I help them understand the value of work and doing the best they can and to take a vested ownership of their work. I enjoy serving in the community, helping with many service projects, helping those who are in need, and find my greatest joy is service is to my family and in my home.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that families can be together forever. I know that the happiness I experience in my family cannot be found anywhere else and is most likely to be achieved when founded on the teachings and gospel of Jesus Christ. I appreciate how the church supports the family and teaches us to protect the sanctity of marriage and family. I know that we can live together as families in the presence of our Heavenly Father. I receive great strength and comfort in following the teachings of the Savior and following the counsel from our Prophet and Apostles, who share with us God's will for us in our day. It is so good to know that our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be happy. He also wants all of us to return to live with him. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is built upon the foundation of Apostles and Prophets with Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone. The church is led by Jesus Christ through revelation to His prophet, and it is the Prophet who shares with the world, the words of Christ, and testifies of him. Each local unit of the church is led by a lay ministry. Those who are called as a Bishop or Stake President or any other leader of the men, women or children, do not receive any monetary compensation for their service. They each have a full time job and their church service is in addition to their full time employment. I am so grateful that we have Temples that unite families together for all eternity and I know that we will be together with our family once we have finished our time here on Earth. It is comforting to have this knowledge and to share it with others. I know our Heavenly Father lives and loves us. I know Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer and it is through Him and His atonement that we can return to live with them again. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God, as is the Bible, and we use them hand in hand to know the will of God and to live by His teachings.

How I live my faith

I am the leader of a group of Priesthood holders in our unit and also serve as a Temple Ordinance worker. As part of this group of Priesthood holders, we look for opportunities to serve others in the community. We have helped with the clean up of trees and other debris that were blown over after severe storms. We have helped in the community to clean up and beautify a park , have helped with yard work, clothes sorting and clean up of a business that gives food and clothing to those in need, and have helped many other ways in the community in serving those who are in need. I find great joy in serving those of our Heavenly Father's children who are in need. I serve in the Temple one night a week and find joy in that service. The Temple is a wonderful place where faithful members can go to draw closer to God, and provide opportunities for their ancestors to accept the ordinances of the gospel that are necessary for them to return to Heavenly Father. There is a peaceful and tranquil spirit in the temple that I have not found anywhere else and I look forward to be in the temple. I usually go to scout camp with my son and have been to every scout camp for the past 10 years, either as a scout master or a father with my sons. It is fun to be in the outdoors, teaching others and enjoying all the beauty that God has provided for us on earth. It is so rewarding to be in service to others. I know that when we are "in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God." (Mosiah 2:17)
