Hi I'm Allan

I'm a chicano, I love my family, I like trying new foods and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well, where do I start? I am from Southern California and I learned from a very young age to love diversty!!! To start off my dad is from Guatemala and my mom is from Mexico. Growing up I felt like at the schools I attended I always had friends from different ethnic backgrounds and I grew to love to learn about peoples food, dances and other cultural experiences. One of my favorite things to do is learn new languages. Currently I'd say I'm fluent in English, Spanish and Papiamento. I'm working on Japanese, Portuguese and Dutch. I really love to play sports and being in a friendly competitive environment. I love winning!! haha I like running, badminton, volleyball, basketball and pretty much anything else. If there is one thing that I truly truly enjoy doing is being with my family. I always enjoy eating, playing or just simply spending time with them. There is nothing in the world that I am most grateful for than them.

Why I am a Mormon

Most people think that children born into the Chruch do things just based off of tradition or because "it's what my parents told me to do." However I feel like it was very different in our family. Both of my parents are converts to the Church and many times, I think it's safe to say, they didn't know everything about the Church and so it was something that we all had to experiment and learn both individually and together. The blessings of living the principles of the gospel are eternal which leads me to my next point. I know that my family can be together forever!! It's something that I truly want and I know that I can achieve by the things I do in this life. I am a Mormon because I know it's true and it's the right thing to do. I have been blessed so greatly that I can't deny the blessings I've recieved. They're real! So real!!

How I live my faith

From the things I have learned I know that faith is an action word. We can't say we have faith if we don't have any deeds or works that can back it up. I'm not saying that I am perfect or that I have perfect faith but I do strive my best to be a faithful Christian. When I think about Christ I think that he always went around doing good. I strive each day to do the same. I love meeting new people, talking to them, getting to know their background and see where they are coming from. You never know who is out there just waiting for someone to say hi. I once met girl on the bus who I found out later in our conversation that she was taking a college Spanish course... to make a long story short, I now tutor her weekly with her Spanish. I gain so much satisfaction when I can help people and see their progression. Faith for me is doing what the Lord expects of you.
