Hi I'm LeMar Hanson

I'm a Mormon. I have been an active member of LDS Church all my life. I was employed in the Church Educational System.

About Me

I am 85 years old. I am married to a wonderful woman, Virginia who is an inspiration both as a woman and a friend. I am a retired CES empoyee. I taught Seminary and Institute students for 33 years in Idaho, Utah and Nevada. We served a mission to Albania in 1993-4 right after the Revolution. I am a veteran from World War II and Korean conflict.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon to begin with because I was raised in a Mormon Family. My paternal grandparents were converts from Denmark and Norway. Grandfather Hanson crossed the plains just prior to the establishment of the Railroad. My maternal grandparents were converts from New England and England. Great great grandfather Shumway was a part of the first company of pioneers to enter the Salt Lake Valley. That has been an important part of my being a Mormon. My own conversion came about as I read the scriptures and put the story and doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ to a prayerful test. I received an undeniable spiritual witness that is was true and resulted from the direction of God through living prophets. The experience of Joseph Smith as he was directed in establishing the church in this period of time I found to be true and comparable to biblical ways of doing the things of God.

How I live my faith

I have been involved in church leadership and teaching roles all my life. I have served as a leader in LDS congregations. I have served in several missionary positions, in United States and Albania. The teachings and doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serve as a framework for how I live my life. It has brought me spiritual happiness and fulfillment and continues to do so. It has been a source of peace and comfort as I have faced the death of loved ones. I know we shall be together again.

What is the First Vision?

LeMar Hanson
The first vision relates to the experience that Joseph Smith had as a young 14 year old. He desired to know which Church he should join. The Father and the Son Jesus Chirst appeared to him and answered his question as to what Church to join. It was the first vision of what became the Restoration of Gospel and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in this day.  Show more Show less
