Hi I'm Becky

I am a mother of 2. I love coming up with my own crafts, reading, and making new friends. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a large family with seven kids. My siblings are my very best friends. We enjoy playing games, singing, laughing, eating together, and simply spending time with each other. Now that we have grown and started our own families, I am beginning to realize the sacrifices my parents made in choosing to have a big family. I am so glad they decided that a happy family was more important than having lots of money and nice things. We didn't have a lot, but we had each other. Those relationships are more important to me than any earthly possession. I know that God planned it that way. We were meant to live in families and form loving relationships that would last for all of eternity. The greatest joy I have ever experienced has been in family relationships. My husband and I chose to start our family early, even though it would be a sacrifice. When we got married, I still had one semester left in school. It was a tough semester--I was working part time, taking 15 credits, and pregnant. But I felt it was important for me to finish my undergraduate degree, and I did! My husband and I are now learning what it means to be parents. Being a mom is hard work, but I love it! It is the best job I have ever had. I feel an incredible sense of responsibility every time I look at my son. I know it is my job to teach him and prepare him to live in this world. I know the best way to help my kids is to teach them about Jesus Christ and His Church.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They took my siblings and I to church every Sunday, but they also taught us the gospel at home. They taught us to pray, to read our scriptures, to have faith in God, and to obey His commandments. They helped set me on the right path to be able to discover the truth for myself. When I was a teenager, I realized that I needed to find out if the Church was true for myself. I read the Book of Mormon and tried to apply its teachings in my life. I found answers in that book to my own personal questions and always felt close to God when I read it. As I read it and prayed, I came to know for myself that it was true. During my college years, I continued to learn through daily scripture study and prayer. I gained confidence in myself as my relationship with God grew stronger. I wanted to show God how grateful I was to him and I wanted others to feel the same joy that I had felt. At age 21, I decided to serve as a missionary to share what I had found with others. This was one of the best decisions I ever made! I am forever changed because of the things that I learned and felt while in the service of God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being the best mother and wife that I can be. To help me do this, I try to set aside time every day to be alone so that I can pray, ponder, and read the scriptures. This helps me to remember who I am and what is most important in life. When I am removed from noise and distraction, I can more easily feel God's love for me and it motivates me to be my best. Throughout the day, whenever I feel overwhelmed or exhausted or weak in any way, I pray and ask God to give me the help and strength that I need. It seems so simple that sometimes I forget to do it. But whenever I take the time to stop and pray for help, it always comes. This simple exercise of daily prayer has strengthened my faith and helped me to feel peace in my life. I know that God is aware of us. We are His children and He wants to help us find happiness.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Becky
In order to understand our purpose in life, we must first understand who we are. We are literal children of God. Before we were born on this earth, we lived with our Heavenly Father. While in his presence, he taught us about his Plan of Happiness. This plan's goal was to help each of us find true joy and reach our ultimate potential. As children of God, we have the potential to become like him. Jesus Christ is an essential part of this plan. When God presented his plan to us, Jesus Christ offered to do all he could to help make that plan successful. Part of the plan included a Savior. Jesus volunteered to be our Savior. He would come to earth and suffer for our individual sins and weaknesses so that we would have a way to overcome them. We each have the freedom to choose whether to follow God's plan or not--that is why we are here on earth, to decide. Each day we make decisions that lead us toward greater happiness or greater misery. I have found the path to happiness and I am so grateful to know that I am a daughter of God. I want to return to his presence and I am striving to make good decisions. But I make mistakes. I am grateful that I have a Savior to turn to for help and strength in my quest. I know why I am here--to bring myself and others unto Christ so that we can make it back to the presence of our Father. Show more Show less
