Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Kristen

I'm a Mom, a Grandma and an RN. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married to my best friend for 27+ years, and we have 3 children. Our two youngest are currently serving missions Chile and California. Our oldest child is married and just made me a Grandma, which HAS to be the BEST thing ever! I graduated from college in Nursing and Sociology and enjoyed working in the NICU for many years. I quit my job several years ago to be a full-time mom. I love to road bike, walk my two german shepherds, travel, bake, make jewelry with anything that sparkles, and do anything "crafty! I love life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a large Mormon family, so I've been a member of the Mormon Church all of my life.  However, I have learned for myself of the truthfulness of the Gospel, and I believe that the Book of Mormon is true! I LOVE reading the Book of Mormon, and I've experienced the person "conversion" so to speak that comes from KNOWING that I believe! I've faced many challenges in my life, and there was a time that I was too discouraged to care. A close brother had similar struggles, but he made the devastating choice of suicide. I chose LIFE from that point on, and I found real JOY in LIVING! I re-discovered PURPOSEFUL and righteous living, and I have never been happier! Being a Mormon has helped me through the hard times and has given me direction in my life. I have HOPE because I know that I can be forgiven of my mistakes, and I know how much God loves ME!

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by EXAMPLE! I'm a happy person and love to smile! I love to serve others and find that I'm happier when I'm not thinking of myself! I'm at peace with myself and my life! I try to LIVE my life in harmony with the things I claim to believe in!  There are always people watching, even if they don't realize it. They tend to notice the clean, moral and honest way Mormon's live, and they want to know WHY? I feel that the best way I can represent my church is by the way I LIVE!

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Kristen
There is a very simple way to know that Mormonism is true! You need to read the Book of Mormon with a desire in your heart to know if it's true. Then you need to get on your knees and ask God! He will answer you if you ask with SINCERE DESIRE! Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Kristen
No one is REQUIRED to serve a mission. All service in our church is VOLUNTARY! Our leaders do recommend that 19 year old boys serve missionsgirls can also choose to serve at the age of 21 because of the amazing growth that occurs! The most important person they can convert by serving a mission is themself! My son was a typical "x-box" teenager who didn't know how to work, "go without" or think of anybody but himself! During the past 14 months, he has learned what is important in life! He has become selfless, hard-working, non-complaining and he is so HAPPY! My daughter has always been an amazing person, but even she has grown as she's developed the Christlike characteristics she's teaching others about. She absolutely radiates her love of the gospel as she shares it with others. There is a saying in our church that a missionary is someone who "leaves their family for a short time so that others may be with their families for ETERNITY". In the short time that our family has been separated geographically, we have become closer than ever! It's a win-win situation! Show more Show less
