Hi I'm Camille

I'm a book lover, I'm a sister and a daughter, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Sometimes I wonder if I should've been born in a different century. My friends sometimes call me the modern "Elizabeth Bennett." I play the piano, write calligraphy, and bind books. I graduated in December with a BA in English. I love reading Romantic literature and YA adventure. I hope to become an editor and author. I love my family. I have 4 sisters, 1 older and 3 younger, who I absolutely love. I have the best fun with my sisters. Someday we will travel the world together. They don't know it, but they are the inspiration to many stories. Someday they'll be immortalized in my books.

Why I am a Mormon

Though my parents have always been Mormon, I didn't want to believe what they said just because they said it: typical teenager. I searched for myself. I turned to all the books I could find, reading about many different churches. I turned to the scriptures. One Sunday the choir I was in sang at a Methodist meeting then directly after sang in an LDS sacrament meeting. I felt the difference between the churches, not just in familiarity, but the Holy Ghost bearing witness to my soul that this Church is true, that God loves me, and He wants me to be happy. I did not need to to look any further. I was home.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm serving as a missionary in New York. I lead tours at the Church's Historic Sites and teach people in their homes. I study the gospel and I hope to bring the Spirit into the homes of members and non-members. When I go home, I'll continue serving in the Church because I'm lucky enough have the truth and God is giving me the chance to share it.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A "testimony" is what we know is true because the Holy Ghost has told us. The Holy Ghost tells us what is true through the thoughts and feelings of our hearts. I find mine through peace. When I'm at peace, I know the Holy Ghost is telling me that what I'm learning is true. I did not learn everything all at once, but began to understand a little at a time through study and prayer. How can I know Mormonism is true?

At the end of The Book of Mormon, Moroni give us all a promise: when we have received these things we should ask God through faith and in the name of Christ if they are true or not and He will answer through the power of the Holy Ghost. This is the promise we give to everyone. Do not take anyone's word for it; find out for yourself if it is true or not. Show more Show less

What is the First Vision?

Joseph Smith, the first prophet in these modern times, saw God the Father and Jesus Christ early in the spring of 1820. We call this the First Vision. God wants to teach the people here on earth His truth, and to do that He calls a prophet to lead His church. The Bible teaches that God will call a prophet by speaking to him and showing himself to that man (Numbers 12:6). Joseph Smith was that prophet, called to restore all the truth back to the earth.
