Hi I'm Robert Draper

I love my family. I'm an Oregonian. I'm a hard worker. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have taught English in Japan and in China. I love the outdoors. My favorite sports to play and watch are American Football and Track and Field. I love to watch movies, play video games, board games. I am a husband and father. I have a great imagination. I love to listen to good music and dance. I enjoy doing service and learning about the church to which I am a faithful member.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I met a person who was a great example of good values, morals, and faith. My, then, girlfriend now, wife, showed me and taught me that there is way more to life than I ever imagined. I was at a time in my life where I wanted to go to a church, but I wanted to go to the right one. I was curious. I knew so little about Jesus Christ and wanted to know more and to eventually be like him, but I couldn't learn what I needed to from simply reading the Bible and trying to understand with my limited abilities. I was off and on at a church where I didn't like how the people were very judgmental and the motives behind offerings and other church principles just weren't right. The path I was on was a destructive one and I needed to change or die. I had this strong feeling that I was not supposed to die, yet, so I tried to change. It was a long, hard, faith growing process, but I eventually made it. I was dating a Mormon girl, who was the baby of 7 kids! Let's just say that there was a lot of growth that took place.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my very best to follow God's commandments, both past and present, and by striving to "...putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint, Mosiah 3:19 in the Book of Mormon. I am currently serving in the church as the second counselor in the Elders Quorum Presidency. I help see to the needs of the families in the ward and to organize and help the elders in the Elders Quorum to fulfill their duties and responsibilities as servants of the Lord. I also enjoy serving as a home teacher by visiting families in the church and making sure their needs are being met both spiritually and monetarily.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Robert Draper
Contrary to popular belief, Mormons/Latter-Day Saints do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship Jesus Christ and do our best to follow his teachings and example. We believe that Joseph Smith was the prophet chosen by God to bring the true church of Christ back to the earth in the latter days. We recognize Joseph Smith and his crucial role and efforts as a faithful servant to Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ was, is and always will be the head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and He is the one we worship. Show more Show less
