Hi I'm Diane

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 34 years and have 5 children, and 10 grandchildren with 2 on the way. I love being together with my family. I love my children, my grandchildren, brothers, sisters, parents and all my in laws. I have always loved the elderly, the youth and children and have enjoyed teaching and playing together. My favorite and nearly only TV Show is, "Touched by an Angel." I enjoy playing the piano, guitar, singing, reading, learning and gardening. I love all people and enjoy being in contact with them everywhere that I can. I love helping people with problems that they have. I love being an instrument in the Lord's hands and have over 50 journals which show His hand in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints and raised a member and was baptized and received the holy ghost when I was 8 years old. Growing up, our family of 9 would meet together for family prayer every morning before anyone left the house. Still to this day my parents are a wonderful examples of a family, 'that prays together, stays together'. They live the words of Joshua, 'But for me and my house we will serve the Lord'. I go to church each Sunday to worship the Lord, Jesus Christ through song, prayer and in partaking the Sacrament which represents his body and blood that He sacrificed for all mankind. Each Sabbath Day as I partake of those emblems that represent Him I also renew the Covenant I made with Him at my baptism, to always remember Him and Keep His commandments. Each evening as we gather to read from the scriptures and kneel in prayer is another opportunity for the spirit of the Lord to manifest itself. I know that the church is led by a prophet today, just as in days in the past. For God is the same today, yesterday, and forever. And as it says in the Old Testament in the book of Amos...'Surely the Lord God will do nothing but he will reveal His secrets to His servants the prophets.' I know that Joseph Smith was called by God to be a prophet in these the latter days meaning the last days before Christ returns. I know that through the power of God, Joseph Smith did translate the ancient records written on plates of gold wriitten on by prophets here in America. In that record of The Book of Mormon, is the account of Jesus Christ showing himself after His resurrection to the people whom Jesus talks of in the New Testament as, 'his other sheep.' Knowing these things have created an anchor of faith and hope to my soul. As I read from the Bible and Book of Mormon and from the words of the living prophet today I feel the spirit of the Lord direct my day, and I am at peace knowing I am following the Lord.

How I live my faith

It is easy to live my faith, for I love God and his son Jesus Christ and all of my brothers and sisters here on earth. I try to do all that I am capable of doing to help in any way needed. I strive to follow the proclamation called, "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" which was revealed to our prophet and his counselors in 1995. It reads, "Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. As I read the scriptures and pray throughout the day I feel God's Spirit near, and a firm foundation is built in my heart so I can know how to go about each day acting upon the good thoughts that come to my mind to help someone that may be struggling in some way only known to God ." I know that Jesus Christ did take upon himself the sins of the people that he might blot out their trnsgressions according to the power of his deliverance. It is He who taketh away the sins of the world, who is mighty to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness," as the prophet Alma says in the Book of Mormon, another testament of Christ.

What is being a Mormon like?

Diane
Being a member of The Church of Latter-days Saints, with membership over 13 million, world wide, has been a wonderful gift. The spirit of God is so near to the heart when we truly follow in the footsteps of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is all about Him, Jesus Christ! We do that by the way we act and the things we think. We are not perfect, but are willing to obey his commandments. That is why we study the scriptures and pray to our heavenly father in Jesus name. My membership in the church, that Jesus himself is the head of which he restored through his prophet , is of great value to me and a great treasure of spiritual knowledge and blessings. Through the calling of the prophet Joseph Smith, all Priesthood power was brought back to the earth in its fulness by heavenly messengers. And I as a member benifit from this power. When God the father and his son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in answer to Joseph's prayer, Joseph was then led step by step to the restore the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Under the direction of the Priesthood, the women's organization was inspired. This Relief Society is the largest women's organization in the world. It gives women 18 years and older the opportunity to use their time in the service of God as we serve each other. Our motto is, "Charity, Which is the Pure Love of Christ, never faileth." Having Christlike love always in my heart for everyone is the answer to all problems. Show more Show less
