Hi I'm Justin

I was born and raised in Texas. I am a Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a Junior at an university in Louisiana, studying Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. I love spending time with my wife and family, doing everything from playing board games to water and snow sports.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this Church from the time I was born, but when I was fourteen, I found out for myself if it was true. I was at a youth camp in San Antonio called Especially for Youth, or EFY, and while I was there, my counsellor challenged us to pray about the scriptures. I did. And the answer I recieved was from God that these things were true. I knew then that the Book of Mormon was translated by the power of God through the Prophet Joseph Smith. The answer I recieved convinced me that God does answer when we ask, just like it says in the Book of Matthew in the Bible. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior. I know that only through Him is it possible for me to return home with my family.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday, render service to people I see as often as I can and at the very least, I show anyone who looks at me that I believe in Jesus Christ by the way I act and what I say.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

My greatest joy in my life is being with my family. I love being with my parents and siblings. But more important still is being with my wife. Because we were married in the temple, I know that our marriage will last forever. This is possible because of what is called the sealing power of the Priesthood. Jesus Christ gave that power to Peter in the New Testament and said that whatever was sealed on Earth was sealed in heaven as well. That power was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith, which is why I know that my marriage to my best friend will last forever. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a man who lived in the early 1800s, 1805 to 1844 to be exact. He was curious at a young age about which denomination he should join, and felt compelled to pray about it. In the Spring of 1820 he did, and he had a vision. He saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. They gave him direction that none of the churches on the Earth contained a fullness, or completeness, of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They instructed Joseph that if he was obeident, he would be the means of restoring the gospel to the Earth again. He was a prophet, and commonly called the Prophet of the Restoration because of all that he did for the church. We do not worship Joseph Smith, he was meerly the instrument through which God's will and purpose was made possible. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is simply the authority of God given to man to act in His name. This means that when we take the Sacrament, or the Lord's Supper, that it is done in the authority of God. It is the same for all ordinances in the church, from baptism to marriage. Show more Show less
