Hi I'm Joshua

I'm a missionary in Pittsburgh . I'm Batman, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in my 20's. I love girls, playing the piano, basket-ball, super heroes, movies, pizza, drawing, the color green, funny people, BYU football, Ice cream, Star Wars Battlefront, This Church, and my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have prayed to know if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of God. And I know with all my heart that I got an answer to that prayer. God showed me though the power of the Holy Ghost that it is the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today. His name is Thomas S. Monson. I know that Jesus Christ's true church is on the earth today. The same church that Christ formed in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon. I know that that church is the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. And more importantly I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know he suffered for my sins so that I can be forgiven of them. I know that Jesus died on the cross and that he was resurrected. And because of Him we too can be resurrected and can live with our families and with our Heavenly Father forever.

How I live my faith

Well, because I am a missionary you could say the way I live my faith is by well being a missionary. Haha, everyday for the next two years I am going to do my best to share with others the gospel that has brought me so much joy!

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

The Restoration is needed because of the Apostasy. The apostasy is a time foretold of by the prophet in the Bible Amos. In Amos 8:11-12 " Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it." Amos tells us that there will be a time when the gospel, or "the word of the Lord" will be lost. That time came when Jesus Christ and the Apostles were killed. Even though we still had the bible, there were no prophets or apostles to keep the gospel pure and true. Man was left with their own interpretation of the Bible. As we all know, there are thousands of christian churches all based on the bible, BUT all teach different doctrines. When Christ was on the earth He did not set up thousands of different churches so that there was something different for everyone. He had one church. His church. The prophet Peter tells us that there will be a restitution or a restoration of the gospel, in Acts 3:21 " Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began." In short, the gospel was lost during the Apostasy and the Restoration brought it back. So, now we have the same gospel that Christ set up when he was on the earth. :) Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Let me answer this question by explaining why I served a mission. First off it would be good to understand that the “Mormon” missionaries do not get paid for there service as a missionary. It is something that I had always wanted to do. So I would save half of every paycheck I got to help pay for my mission. I would assume that the same is true for most missionaries out there as well. When I was old enough to go on a mission I had a great life! I had a great family. I had gone to a year of college. I had a phone, a car, a girlfriend. I had everything I could ever ask for. But I left for my mission anyway. The reason I left all that behind for 2 years to share the gospel with people is because the gospel brings me joy. There is nothing else in the world that makes me more happy then the gospel of Jesus Christ. And the hope was, that if I served a mission I could bring that joy to someone else. No one is forced to serve a mission. Although there is a lot of pressure to go on a mission. It is a decision that I had to make and no one else made it for me. I love my mission! What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

1Corinthians 3:16-17 says: "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." You may have heard the phrase, "my body is a temple" which comes from these verses in the bible. This scripture tells us that our bodies are "holy" and we should not "defile" them. So the word of wisdom is simply a law of health that tells us what things we should put into our bodies and what things we should keep out. For example the word of wisdom directs us to eat things like: -Grains -Vegetables -Fruits -etc... and it directs us to stay away from stuff like: -Tobacco -Alcohol -Coffee and tea -Illegal drugs It also suggests that we should exercise to help keep our bodies in good condition. To me the Word of Wisdom is common sense. Take care of our bodies. Eat healthy stuff. Exercise. Don't eat bad stuff. You can read the word of wisdom in Doctrine and Covenants 89:1-21, when it was first given to the prophet Joseph Smith in 1833. Show more Show less
