Hi I'm Alden

I grew up in Canada. I served a mission in Romania. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a university student and study physics and engineering. I love to fly and like to live a healthy active life. I enjoy playing sports and snowboarding. I ran cross country and did biathlon during high school. I love music and fiddle around on the piano and guitar and during high school I played the clarinet. My career goal is to become an astronaut. I love life and am happy to be alive.

Why I am a Mormon

I became converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I gained a testimony of the Book of the Mormon. I didn't gain my testimony at one time, rather as I read, study and pray about the Book of Mormon on a regular basis the Spirit testifies to me through my feelings and my thoughts that the Book of Mormon is true. Because of this I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of Christ on the earth today. I also know that Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet and that from him until now the church is led by living prophets and apostles just as in Christ's day. I am a "Mormon" because I know that these things are true and I know that these things are true because I have received a witness from God through the Spirit. The wonderful thing is that everyone can know for themselves that these things are true through sincere prayer. God loves us and answers our prayers, according to His time because He knows best. Jesus Christ lives! He is the Saviour of the world and because of Him we can be forgiven of our sins and return to live with our Heavenly Father after this life. Christ has overcome both physical and spiritual death and He is the light and the life. I am a "Mormon" because I want to follow the Saviour.

How I live my faith

The thing about being "Mormon" is that it is a lifestyle. I try to live my faith as best I can by being obedient to the commandments of God and by honouring the covenants I have made with my Saviour. It is much more than just attending Church services every Sunday. It is a daily thing. Daily scripture study and prayer. It is living and applying the doctrine of Christ and His gospel everyday at home with family, at work, at school or wherever I may be. This is what I strive to do to actively live what I know to be true.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Alden
Through the prophets in the scriptures and through modern revelation we know that the purposes of life are to gain a physical body, to have joy, and prepare to meet God. Some scriptures that helped me understand this are: 2 Nephi 2 and Alma 34:32 Show more Show less
