Hi I'm Kaitlan

I love playing the piano and learning new things. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from college with a degree in Music. I love expressing myself at the piano, and especially love accompanying others and teaching. I currently teach from my home as well as group classes in the community. I'm married to my best friend and we are currently expecting our first child. I'm trying to transition from being a student to being a full-time wife and soon-to-be mother.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I'm grateful for the foundation in Christ that I received from a young age. However, there came a point in my life where I had to realize the truth of the Gospel for myself instead of merely relying on the teachings of my parents and church leaders from my childhood. Around 9th grade, I began studying the scriptures on my own. I remember praying and asking Heavenly Father one night if all of it was really true, and telling Him that I wanted to know for myself and not have any doubts. The answer didn't come immediately, but as I kept praying and studying, I felt this overwhelming peace that I knew was my answer. This moment in my life was important, but my conversion doesn't end there. I'm striving to constantly be converted each day as I study the scriptures and come closer to know my Father in Heaven and my Savior, Jesus Christ. Why am I a Mormon? Truly it's because I love my Savior - I love Him more each day as I strive to follow Him and become more like Him. I've come to trust Him and have a great desire to serve Him with all of my heart. He's made the truth of this Church known to me and showed me the way to come home to Him one day and eventually be like Him - so I've decided to follow Him.

How I live my faith

I love being able to share my musical abilities at church. I play the piano for our meetings, and I'm currently learning how to play the organ (which I'm learning is quite different from the piano!). I also teach early morning seminary to the youth in my ward. It's a small class where we're able to discuss the gospel of Jesus Christ and study from the scriptures every morning before they go to school. I'm amazed at the faith of the youth and how they are able to stay true to their standards while so many around them do not. They teach me a lot and inspire me to be better. I'm also a "ward missionary." This means that I get to share my testimony with others in our community on a regular basis. I get to go out with the sister missionaries who serve in our area and help teach those who are interested in learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Outside of church, I try to show forth the Light of Christ everywhere I go. I do not just worship God on Sundays, but try to stay true to Him and remember Him every day of the week. I enjoy talking to people I meet at the store or the library, etc, and try to be friendly wherever I go. I'm naturally a shy person, but I'm learning to be more outgoing

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are holy places where we can go to make sacred covenants (or promises) with our Heavenly Father. We are also given special instruction from Him and is where we can be sealed to our families for eternity. These blessings and ordinances are available not only for us, but for those who have passed on, who did not get the opportunity in this life to hear and accept the gospel of Jesus Christ.
