Kynan Pearson: Jesus Christ, Missionary, Brisbane, Philippines, Holy Ghost, Mormon.

Hi I'm Kynan Pearson

About Me

I'm a 25 year old male who loves his sports rugby, touch footy, American football, basketball. You name it I like to play it. I enjoy spending time with family, watching girly movies with Nan, watching all the other movies, mucking around with friends, institute, being a guy, hanging out, swimming, chilling at the beach, dancing and most other things but I have given all that up for 2 years to come and serve and teach the people of Papua New Guinea as a missionary. I now teach, serve, help and become friends with the beautiful people in Papua New Guinea as a missionary, a representative of the church and a disciple of Christ. I and the other missionaries work, sweat and walk mountains just to be able to help some of these people know about more about Jesus Christ and his Gospel and Heavenly Father who loves them so much but sometimes they just don't know. I come from a mix of a family where I have 2 mother figures (my grandmother and mother), my father left us when I was young but my only father figure (grand father) Robert has done so much for me that I just seemed to turn out okay :). I am not perfect as a missionary, as a son or even as a person but I try. I'm grateful for my interesting family and especially my mother who did the best she could when she was so young. I am who I am because of my family and what the Lord has done with my life.....without him I am nothing!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have been Mormon all my life. While I have been going with to church with my parents since I can remember it was always because it was what THEY thought was right, so I kind of took there word for it. Until I was 15 at a young mens camp where everyone was sharing their testimonies and that they knew the church was true, that the Book of Mormon was scripture and Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. I was too wondering why I did not know the same thing, I had a desire to know and at that very moment I felt a huge warmth in my heart, I believe it to be the Holy ghost telling me this is where I'm meant to be and meant to be doing and that this gospel, Jesus Christ lives and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was restored as the same Church that Jesus Christ organised. I know that if you read the Book of Mormon and desire to know whether it's true or not and whether this Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. You can find out for yourself, just the way I did.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

We go on missions because we like to share the love of our Saviour Jesus Christ and the restoration of his Church which he formed when he was on earth. We go to invite all our brothers and sisters to listen to the message we have to share because we believe it to be true and want to share it! I myself feel am going on a mission because I feel SOOO blessed by what I believe to be true and the sacrifice he made on the cross for each and every single person to ever have lived. For all of us to be able to repent and live again after this life. I feel like my "sacrifice" of two years is almost nothing compared to it because every breath we take is a blessing for us. I love my Heavenly Father (God) and his son Jesus Christ and I am so grateful for the Holy Ghost that helps me. We go because we are taught to love like Jesus Christ did. We go because we are taught whether it be Family, Friend or Foe to pray and love them. We go because we feel so blessed by this Church and the love we feel from God, Jesus Christ and the members that it would be such a shame not to share all of this joy and knowledge we feel and enjoy. How could we not?

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

The holy ghost has helped me many times in my life, but this one time it did save me from a fine and a police record. In the car with my friends who aren't members, going back to one of there cousins house which was a 30 minute drive away. We were close and I had this feeling of complete alarm and I was worried and knew I had to get out of where I was and go home. I told my friend who asked me if I was sure numerous times and I just kept telling him "I need to go home". Back on the train the feeling disappeared and I was feeling much more comfortable, getting home safely that night. Later on I found out that the police had shown up at my friends cousin house cause they had been drinking and they had been called cause of noise disturbance and potential violence. When the police got there, they all caused a bit of trouble and got arrested for Resisting arrest and got the spend the night in lock-up. They ended up paying around $500 dollars in fines and a police record. I know the Holy ghost had warned me that night to keep me out of danger and to keep me safe and I am very grateful that I was open to the promptings he gave me that night.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be an example of Jesus Christ in all that I do. He is at the head of this Church as the name states "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". I try to follow his example love all those around me, help everyone (whether it be family, friend or enemy). I am not perfect and I don't do it all the time but I continually strive to do this every day. I go to Church every Sunday to learn more about Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and this Gospel that I love. Everything that I learn on Sunday and during the week is what I try to implement in my life. I love my faith and I believe in all that it teaches and I will try to live it every day!
