Hi I'm Jacob

I am a doctor. I am a husband. I am a father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a doctor. I am a husband. I am a father. I believe in and love my Savior. I have an amazing and beautiful wife. I am the father to four incredible daughters. I am a family physician in a small town. I provide broad primary care from the emergency room to delivering babies. On my days off we spend time together as a family. We enjoy going to the lake to waterski, wakeboard, swim, or scuba dive. We also enjoy camping and exploring new trails. We likewise enjoy family vacations to places farther away, especially Disney. On Sunday we go to church and have family time at home.

Why I am a Mormon

It keeps me balanced! In a fast paced world that pulls us in so many directions, my faith helps me keep things in perspective. In life when you have a certain degree and have had a great deal of education and begin to make some money it would be easy to get caught up in all of that if there were not an awareness that the purpose of life is about so much more. As a latter-day saint I believe and even know that we lived with God, our Heavenly Father, before we came to earth. I know that he sent us here to be tested. I know that he sent his beloved son, even Jesus Christ, to pay the ultimate price, allowing us to return to his presence some day, if we would but repent and keep his commadments. I know that the happiness I experience with my family provides glimpses of what the life here after shall include.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is so much more than merely going to church on Sunday. I live my faith by praying with my family often. We try to pray together in the morning before school and work and at the end of the day before bed. We also pray over our meals in public and private. Most importantly we pray individually as well as together as husband and wife. In addition to church we attend our temple once a month. We read scriptures nearly every night before bed. Once a week we have a family night where we go over principles that we think will help our children. Such topics have included those of a more spiritual nature such as prayer, baptism, the birth of Christ and the resurrection. We have also had lighter topics for the younger children where we have discussed why we should not be a bully or why we should not yell. We top that night off with a fun activity and a dessert. The kids especially dig it when we go out for ice cream.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a book of scripture. We receive it as the word of God as we do the Bible. We believe both contain the writings of prophets who testified of the Savior. We believe both will draw men nearer to God. The biggest differences between that two are that the bible contains writings of prophets who lived in the Eastern hemisphere and was later translated by learned men of faith. In comparison, the Book of Mormon contains writings from prophets who lived in the Western Hemisphere, even here in the America's. We believe it was translated by a prophet named Joseph Smith. We do not worship Joseph Smith but are grateful for him as we are for all the prophets such as Moses, Isaiah and Abraham, who all testified of the Savior. We are called Mormons as a nickname because we believe in the Book of Mormon. Mormon was the name of one of the prophets to include his testimony within its pages. Show more Show less
