Hi I'm Matt

People call me Teo, Moti'i, and bigs. I speak Russian and a little Ukrainian, love to sing, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 24 going on 25, and I love living life! (You should be thinking Sound of Music at this point). I'm finishing up a Masters degree in Information Systems at BYU, love User Experience Design and want to make a difference in the world. I love music and art and have done both most of my life. I have the best family in the world!! No questions asked--plus friends to match. I lived two years in Ukraine and Moldova as a volunteer missionary and loved it. I love languages and linguistics and as a result, I have a habit of meeting new people. ;)

Why I am a Mormon

Because it is the most wonderful thing in the world! I have found no thing that brings me as much joy and happiness in life as striving to live like a "mormon". At its simplest, it is a life of striving to know truth and live by it. It is striving to know God, our Father, who is the source of all truth. I want to be like Him.

How I live my faith

Faith is belief plus action. Faith is dead without some sort of action on our behalf. If we believe that we can be blessed by reading the scriptures, we'll read them as a sign of our faith or belief. If we believe that God answers prayers, we pray. I try my best to show my faith by giving of myself in church associations, by being loving and of service in my relationships with friends and family, by doing all that I can to show my love to my Heavenly Father in word and deed.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

We must start with ourselves. We live in a society that is growing more and more numb to the spread of pornography. We are surrounded by inappropriate music, art, films, books, and magazines. We must learn, as said in the scriptures, to be in the world, but not of the world. That takes discipline. We must learn to allow into our lives only that which will bring the Spirit of the Lord in greater abundance. Pornographic material does not fit that discription. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

It does seem sort of funny, huh? I remember a number of times in my life going to friends and their shock as they asked me if I would like alchol...no....coffee....no....well, surely tea....no. :0) For us it is more than a law of physical health. We believe in a modern-day prophet. We believe that the Lord has revealed for our day certain principles that we are to live by for our "temporal salvation." I know that by living this principle I am blessed both physically and spiritually. I am not controlled or influenced by addictive substances. I don't have an urge to drink beer or coffee. I have choice and I love that. Sure, I COULD drink tea or coffee if I wanted to. It's just that--I don't want to! :0) Besides that, the Word of Wisdom is more than a list of "thou shalt not's" (We don't drink alchol, coffee, or tea. We don't smoke, use illegal drugs, or overuse legal ones). It is a way of life. We belive that our bodies are gifts and that we are expected to care for them. We are to get enough sleep (That is a strange thing for most college students!), to exercise regularly, and to strive to eat food that will support and strengthen our body. I know that the way I care for my physical body has a HUGE influence on my spirituality. Show more Show less
