Hi I'm Spenser

I am a student and teacher. I am a husband, son, and brother. Most of all, I am a friend. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am an outgoing introvert. I enjoy playing games with my wife and friends, reading books, and taking long baths. I value my alone time greatly, but I also crave human interaction. I am a life-long learner, and enjoy learning about every topic under, above, and around the sun. I am also a fitness enthusiast and believe that strengthening my body is a wonderful metaphor for how I strengthen my spirit. I greatly enjoy drawing, singing, playing guitar, and being creative in any way, but I too often let my doubts persuade me that I am not good enough at any of these things to pursue them outside of my dreams. I also love teaching and helping others to become their best selves. Lastly, I love being a friend. I love being someone that others can count on. I love being their for people in whatever circumstance they may need me in.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a Freshman in college, after being raised and baptized in a member family, I never really questioned if the Church was true or not. I just accepted it as fact. One day, late in the semester in Priesthood meeting, we were singing Hymn #27, "Praise To The Man," when at the conclusion of the fourth verse I was overcome by the Spirit, and was filled with a desire to "...know Brother Joseph..." for myself. My testimony was weak, but as I began to prepare for a mission and started reading my scriptures my knowledge of the Gospel grew. I came to not only know Joseph Smith as a prophet of God, but also our Savior, Jesus Christ, as the Son of God, and only true way to return to our Heavenly Father's presence. I feel my Savior's love for me daily, and as I come to know Him more, I want to be like Him and emulate His good works.

How I live my faith

I always strive to set a good example, whether I am at work, at church performing in my calling as a teacher, or spending time with my friends and family. Having a firm testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ means that I have a responsibility to hold my banner high and not be ashamed, for all the world to see, like He did.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Believers of God have always looked for ways to share their belief with others. Even Christ, as it says in Matt. 28:19, commands his Apostles to "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations..." We believe this charge to be extended to us, the members of His latter-day church, as well. Show more Show less
