Hi I'm Cindy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a strong woman who has decided to be a stay-at-home mom. I was among the top of my peers when I graduated from college, and many people expected I would go far in my chosen career path. However, I knew that my greatest joy would be found in the home, so when I found out I was pregnant with my son, I was excited and humbled. We have since added baby #2 to our family and she is a joy. Being a wife and mother is in many ways more challenging than the hustle-and-bustle world of public relations, but I am infinitely more rewarded for my work. I also suffer from general anxiety and depression. This recent discovery resulted in a mix of emotions, but as I have sought counseling and treatment, I have been so grateful for this opportunity to learn more about the atonement and how it can help me overcome all things I struggle with in this life.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but my testimony of the truthfulness of the religion is very much my own, developed through innumerable faith-building experiences. Throughout my life I have been encouraged to not follow blindly, but to test the words of the scriptures and of living prophets through sincere prayer and thoughtful reflection. Because I have trusted in the Lord, I have seen time and again the blessings that come to the obedient. Of course, I am not perfect in my obedience, but I am constantly seeking to learn about and exercise the blessings of the atonement of Jesus Christ in my life. Because I have not only the ancient scriptures, but also modern revelation, my understanding is expanded. I feel extremely blessed as I seek forgiveness and strength through the grace of my God.

How I live my faith

Each day is an opportunity to live my faith as I strive to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I work each day to fulfill my calling as a mother and wife in my home, nurturing and caring, bringing the spirit into our home as I make the gospel a priority in my own life. I study the words of the prophets each day and try to apply them to situations I encounter. I pray for the guidance of the spirit as I go throughout my day, and seek for opportunities to serve and share the light of Christ with those around me. I am the Primary music leader. I get to help the children ages 3-11 learn gospel principles and worship God through music. I also am in charge of "Activity Days," week-day activities for young girls ages 8-12. I help the girls set spiritual and temporal self-development goals and help them achieve those goals. Within the church I have also taught the adult Sunday school class, children's classes, and Relief Society classes. One of my most valued callings within the church is as a visiting teacher, an assignment within Relief Society. Along with another woman, I visit several other women from our congregation and discuss gospel topics and build relationships. It is a wonderful opportunity to serve, but it is especially valuable to me because I get to know so many wonderful women who strengthen my testimony of Jesus Christ and his grand plan for me.
