Hi I'm Nate

I'm a self-proclaimed "nerd" and an e-commerce entrepreneur. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a self-proclaimed "techno-hobbit": I love computers and other electronic devices to the detriment of my social life. I love music. I love peace and solitude. I love my 9-year-old son and my wife. I am an e-commerce entrepreneur.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for a simple reason. The LDS faith is where I have found the most truth. I tend to be anxious, and often this world seems to be a sad place for me. When I follow the tenets of this faith, I am happier and more peaceful inside. Period. The peace of the Spirit confirms to me over and over again that these doctrines are true.

How I live my faith

I have been involved with teaching the youth in our area for several years. Currently I serve as a Webelos Den Leader. Before that I was a Scout Master for a Deaf unit. I love to delve into these boys' struggles and help them make sense of a bewildering world that appears to have no morals, no boundaries and no lasting happiness. Scouting gives their lives positive structure and shares the "secret" of happiness: good, moral living.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

From the Mormon viewpoint, all money comes from the Lord. Paying tithing is the least we can do to express our gratitude for the abundance of blessings he gives us. The money paid goes to support our buildings, temples, educational facilities, and other Church operations. It is an honor to pay tithing. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Like other Christians, Mormons believe that the bible represents the word of God. However, any scripture is only as good as it is captured and presented correctly. The vast number of opinions on what any given verse of scripture may mean shows how ambiguous and confusing the scriptures can be. We believe some of the key truths have been lost through two millenia or more of translations and hand-transcriptions. For this reason we look to modern revelation for answers on how best to interpret the Bible. I am grateful God has given us prophets today just as he did in ancient times, and not left us struggling to decipher these holy words on our own. Show more Show less
