Hi I'm Andrew

I'm a husband, a father and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of three children. I work for the United States Government. Because of my work I've lived on both coasts as well as in West Africa for two years. I speak Spanish and French. I enjoy reading and woodworking, listening to music and watching television. I read music and am trying to learn to play the guitar and eventually the banjo.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members of the Church so I was born into the Church and have always been an active participant. But I too had to choose to be a Mormon. I think I fully made that choice when I was a teenager and read the Book of Mormon for the first time. I knew that it was true and that if the Book of Mormon was the Word of God then the Church was true too. Many times I've had that witness confirmed to me.

How I live my faith

I've served in many different capacities in the Church as a teacher, as a leader of the youth, and working with the adult men. Currently, I teach a children's class on Sunday and I work the Boy Scout troop in our congegration. Beyond that, I try to do what's right and do what Heavenly Father has asked me to do. I try to pray, read the scriptures and set a good example for my family and others.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Andrew
We believe that baptism is the means by which someone becomes a member of the Church. Baptism is performed by someone who has the authority to perform the baptism and the person baptized must understand the difference between right and wrong. For this reason, we don't baptize children until they are eight years old. We practice baptism by immersion, which means being fully immersed in a pool of water, just as Christ was baptized by John the Baptist. We believe that everyone can be worthy to be baptized by living the commandments and by gaining a knowledge for himself or herself that Jesus is our Savior, that Joseph Smith was a prophet, that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God and that Christ has restored His church to the earth.
