Hi I'm Lourdes:

first-time mom, engineer, proud catracha. I love life. I love learning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a mom, even if it means surviving each day on only a couple of hours of sleep! Who would have thought that such tiny creatures could turn our worlds upside down, and over again?! I love my culture and everything related to it: food, folklore, music, traditions, etc. I'm a believer in life, in hope, in people, in the fact that things are going to work out in the end. Life is good. I enjoy reading, trying out new things, spending time with my baby, a husband that is always making me laugh, and of whom I can't get enough! My plans for the near future are to delve into the world of translation and interpretation; probably pursue a degree and start my own business.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because this church makes me really HAPPY! I don't know if every person feels this at one moment in life or another, but I came to a point where I felt empty inside. I was yearning for something, I just didn't know what. I belonged to a church and went to the meetings, but without finding that which my soul yearned for. Then one day the missionaries came to our house. Oh happy day! I heard that God had a plan for me! I learned that He was my Father and He loved me! I heard that my worth was great in His sight. I heard that there were prophets on the earth today! I learned of the atonement of Christ and His grace! And this changed my life. And it continues to change it, every day, one sin and weakness at a time. My relationship with my Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ is very personal. They live. They are deeply interested in our lives. They want to help, to bless, to heal, to forgive...and His truths and teachings that are found in this church can really bless families and bring true joy to human relationships.

How I live my faith

One of the ways is by doing personal and family worship to improve my relationship with my Father in Heaven. As a family, we do things like family prayer, scripture study and family time. We also work with the youth of our local congregation: we teach weekly lessons, provide weekly opportunities for fun activities, advise them on career planning, etc. I also visit other members of the church periodically to strengthen friendships and to assess needs.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

We believe that He is the Son of God. He is our Savior. His suffering, death and resurrection redeem all mankind from death and sin. If we follow His example, obey His commandments and repent of our sins, we can be forgiven and enjoy true happiness and peace of mind. He lived a perfect life. The testimonies of prophets from all times teach us about His mission, His perfect example, His life devoted to service, His matchless power, His miracles, His infinite love, His attributes. He came to the earth to do the will of the Father. Everything we have and are is because of Him. We believe that He lives! And that His grace can help us and bless us in every aspect of our lives!
