Hi I'm Nick

I am tall. I am a runner. I read everything good I can find. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student who studies accounting. I study hard because I want to contribute to the community and people around me. When I am not studying or working I run...fast and far. I am an athlete. When I run I push myself to be better and faster each time. I enjoy feeling myself improve as I run. This feeling motivates me and makes me believe that I can improve significantly in other aspects of my life. My goal is to be better each day.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents both served as missionaries of the church in Asia when they were young. They met at school, were married, and raised me and my siblings as Mormons since we were born. When I was a teenager I struggled to understand who I was and what I believed. My whole life I had listened to other Mormons say that they knew certain things were true. They knew that God lives, that Jesus Christ is our Savior, that God calls prophets today. I did not know these things when I was 16. They said that they knew these things because they had read the Book of Mormon and God taught them it was His word. Finally, when I was 17 years old I decided to put the Book of Mormon to the test. I started at the beginning and read every day for a couple of months. As I read I prayed to God. He taught me, through His spirit that the Book of Mormon is true. As I have tried to live the teachings of the Savior found in the Book of Mormon since then, God has confirmed over and over again that the Book of Mormon is true. Now I know with all my heart that God loves me, He sent Jesus Christ to save me, and He has restored the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth today. Knowing these things gives me feelings of peace, joy, and hope. Because of these experiences with my Heavenly Father I choose to follow Jesus Christ each day.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving in my local congregation. Since I am a student I attend with more than 100 other students that share my same beliefs. I have been assigned to lead the men's organization of the congregation. Some of my responsibilities include organizing service projects, planning social events, and coordinating visits that all of the men make to individuals of our congregation to care for their emotional and physical needs. My service in the church strengthens my commitment to Jesus Christ and is spiritually satisfying.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Mormon Missionaries fund their activities out of personal funds. Before my two-year mission I served food in a cafeteria, stocked shelves at a grocery store, and worked as a painter to save up money. I was also attending school and when it was time to leave for a mission I wasn't able to pay for everything by myself. My family pitched in so that I could serve as a representative of the Savior. Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

I am living proof that humans are imperfect. Not a single one of us can overcome trials, challenges, and sin, let alone death, by ourselves. God sent us to earth to learn to live like Him and he knew that we could not make it back to him alone. He sent Jesus Christ to make up the difference if we choose to follow Him. Jesus Christ is not like the rest of us humans. He is the Son of God, He has paid the price for all of our imperfections and suffered everything unfair in life so that we could overcome everything that keeps us from God. Only by following Jesus Christ and living His doctrine can we return to God's presence. Each one of God's children must repent, be baptized, and keep God's commandments. Show more Show less
