Hi I'm Dawn

I'm a home schooling mother of seven. I love to read & learn. I can't get enough of the beach. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a home schooling mother of 7 amazing children! ...5 sons and two daughters... I love going to the beach. I enjoy creative writing in my spare time. I LOVE to read! I'm involved with The Boy Scouts of America and have served on staff for several Wood Badge Courses. I really enjoy hanging out with my husband and children...they are my favorite people in the world!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of this church my whole life, BUT I became converted when I was 16 years old and read "The Book of Mormon" for the first time. I prayed to know if what I was reading was true. I received a very powerful and sure witness that my Savior died for me and visited the American Continent after he was resurrected from the tomb. I read my scriptures daily to help me draw closer to my elder brother, Jesus Christ. I want to live in such a way that I will have my family eternally. I want to be able to hug my Savior's neck and thank him for what he did for me. I know that there was a young man who read his scriptures and learned that if he would ask God, that He would hear his prayers. The faith that Joseph Smith had lead to the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that he saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today, President Thomas S. Monson, who receives revelation from our Father in Heaven that pertains to all of us that live on the earth today. I am blessed to know about my Savior and what I need to do to live with him again.

How I live my faith

I have had the privilege to live in Florida most of my life and have been in the Jacksonville area for the last 20 years. I have worked with the youth of the church for most of these past 20 years. Teaching high school age youth was a special assignment. We have youth (14 and up) that attend a scripture study class each morning before they go to school. It is inspiring to find young men and women that sacrifice another hour's rest to participate in a class that helps to bring them closer to their Savior. They put on the 'armor of God' to help them withstand temptations and allow them to set themselves apart. I was blessed while teaching these youth and love to see what amazing adults they are becoming. I currently work with the children that are 18 months to 11 years old. These sweet children give me hope. They set such good examples for all of us. To learn to have the humility of a child is something that each of us should strive for!

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

We believe that all life is sacred. Our mortal bodies are temples for our spirits. The union of the body and spirit constitutes a living soul. Heavenly Father grants us life and the chance for us to prove to him that we can use our temporal bodies for righteous purposes. We have been commanded to multiply and replenish the earth. If by some unfortunate circumstance or unwise decision we bring a life into this world that we cannot give a loving home to-we have the choice to give this child to others who sincerely desire to become parents. Taking life away from anyone...no matter of what stage of development they have obtained...is very serious. There are very limited circumstances where this is permitted and must be considered prayerfully. When a life is created it must be reverenced. We encourage unwed teenage mothers to place children up for adoption. This allows the child to receive a home where it can grow and develop into the being that Heavenly Father intended for them to be. Show more Show less
