Hi I'm Cadence

I'm a mom, Army wife, avid reader, photo-taker, nature lover, and blessed daughter of God. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a recent college grad (Magna Cum Laude at 36!), mother of two rambunctious and wonderful boys, and the wife of a U.S. soldier. Family time is important to us and we do as much as we can together, from working in the yard to long Saturday morning runs. We like fun too! Hiking, drive-in movies, and road trips are some of our favorite pastimes. I love to document all of our adventures with my camera and I've always got my nose in a book (or in this technologically advanced age, an e-book). I dream of settling down on a farm in the mountains and losing myself in nature every day. For now, we continue to enjoy the learning and growth that each new military assignment brings and finding strength in our Faith.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've followed paths that have taken me away from the Gospel light and they always lead me to darkness and confusion. I've travelled through the "dark and dreary wilderness" and learned that only when I maintain a firm grip on the "iron rod" do I know real, soul-drenching joy. Even during the most difficult trials, when I hold strong to my faith, I feel God's love and light surrounding me. No moment of temporal gratification or worldly pleasure is worth distancing myself from that love.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving to the best of my abilities. I'm not perfect, but I'm comforted knowing that any of my many inadequacies are compensated for by a loving Savior. I try to work with the missionaries in our ward as often as possible. I love helping them share the Gospel and being a part of their amazing work in small ways. I live my faith by serving in our women's organization as I oversee the coordination of monthly events that allow us to fellowship as sisters and friends. I live my faith by serving in my own home. Together with my husband, we teach our children principles that will guide them through their lives. I live my faith by being selective about the media I consume as I follow the 13th Article of Faith and seek after anything "virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy." I live my faith my following the Word of Wisdom and taking care of my body. I try to eat well, exercise, and refrain from the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, coffee, and tea. I live my faith by connecting with my ancestry through family history work. Most importantly, I live my faith by remembering that we are all sons and daughters of a loving Father in Heaven and try each day to treat everyone with the Pure Love of Christ.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I believe with my whole heart that God's prophet is on the earth today. God does not change. If he could reveal His will to the prophets of old, why would He be silent now? I'm so grateful to know that I can hear the Word of God through His prophet Show more Show less
